Top Local Tips for Paris
Metamorphosis Dinner Boat & Magic Show We found this great dinner boat and magic show next to Notre Dame. Metamorphosis is anchored on the Seine next to Notre Dame in the Summer and next to the Louvre in the Winter. Very reasonably priced - about half of any of the other dinner shows. Candle lit restaurant - small and intimate with about 100 guests. We had a simple but excellent LePoulet Francaise (Chicken) dinner with wine then went below to a really nice theater. The staff presented a great magic show that both adults and children enjoyed. Big tricks like beautiful girls appearing and disappearing and small tricks right in the audience that blew us away. The show was in French but was easy to follow and they used English where necessary. We went because we ourselves are magicians but everyone will like this show. The 5 person cast put on one of the best Magic Shows that we have ever seen. And we have seen a lot. After the show, you can visit with the cast. The restaurant and show have been in Paris for seventeen years.
Getting into Paris from Charles de Gaul If you're just arriving in Paris, definitely take the Roissy-Orly bus from the airport directly to the hotel. It's only 8 euros or so.
Save $$$$ on tours Instead of booking pre arranged tours at a fixed price per person (which can be pricey!)....we booked a private taxi for 4 people at an hourly rate. The hourly rate was less than the cost of one person on the pre arranged tours - well worth the savings, and the driver was very helpful and took us to the places we wanted to see...we hired the car for 3 hours - great savings!!! and had fun!!!
