Wow, when i got into that hotel, i felt that it's going to be a small hotel with small ancient rooms. But when i come in, WOW! i thought that the hotel was very good and minimalist. Such a great hotel :) I love it! You should go to that hotel in paris!

Historical Traveller Reviews of Duret Hotel

Quaint boutique hotel with great service

from Terps37
My wife and I stayed at Hotel Duret for four nights in March. We booked the hotel because of the esteemed reviews we found here on tripadvisor. Needless to say, we had really high expectations for the hotel. We booked the Deluxe Room at $230E/night. Breakfast was included which was an enormous plus.

The strengths of this hotels are the service and location. Christine and Frederique (sp?) were wonderful to us with every request. They were a one stop shop for all your questions about tours to restaurants. In fact, we went received four restaurant recommendations from them and they were all superb. I would highly recommend Les Bouquinistes out of the recommendations we received. The rooms are spacious but the bathrooms were very nice. My only comment was that the rooms seemed a bit bland for the $230E/night pricetag. Overall, it was a very positive experience and our trip to Paris was made more romantic with the staff and stay at Duret.

We only found one minor problem while staying at the hotel. Our room 405 smelled of smoke at night for some reason. After investigating it more and more, we found out that it was coming from the vent. After two evenings of enduring this, we complained to the front desk and was moved to 305 which made a big difference.

Stylish hotel in a nice location - thin walls.

from PHMcKenna
Stayed here with my girlfriend the weekend of valentines day. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the Air France bus stop after the airport.

Nice "non tourist trap" location, with no road noise and walking distance to the Champs Elysees. We had a stylish superior double room for two nights.

However, the downsides where:
The taxi's really struggled to find the hotel even with the address written down (my poor French did not help) - this is perhaps a problem with all French taxi drivers - I don't know?
The wall of our bedroom was a little too thin for the amourous couple next door! - They had a good weekend too!
The bathroom was beautiful but the shower cable streched diagonally from the centre of the wall on the long side of the bath to the centre of the wall on the short side - a little bit annoying.

Overall a very pleasant experience & very friendly staff - I just wish our next door neighbours hadn't been so friendly!

P.S. Really enjoyed The Sir Winston Churchill (very French - not British) and on Sunday morning it had a great live Gospel band and great Brunch - very cool & highly recommended - walking distance from the hotel.

Modern and Boutique-y

from KristaInLondon
I love the Hotel Duret! I booked the hotel for a business trip primarily because I read about the free Internet access here. Although my taxi had a little trouble finding the hotel and I was a little worried, I was impressed immediately upon entrance. The lobby is a little bar/lounge with swanky modern furniture. Lobby staff were very sweet and helpful. My room was on the top floor--and although they told me it was a smoking room and I was a little worried because I'm not a smoker, you can't tell at all.

What impresses me most is the tilework in the bathroom. It's very well done. Big slabs of gray stone. Also, room comes with robes and slippers, a very nice touch. My room is painted a dark purple, which sounds weird, but is actually quite nice. The room is small, as are most French hotel rooms, but the bathroom is huge with a heated towel rack and well, it's one of the nicer rooms I've ever stayed in in Paris, all for 133 gbp a night.

Breakfast was 15 euros, and was a very lovely buffet with yogurt, meats, chesese, croissants, etc. There's a fun communal table to eat at, although I was the only one eating breakfast at the time so it wasn't so communal.

Internet is a T1 line. They have a drawer of cables at the front desk, but probably best to bring your own. Nice little desk space in room.

The closest Metro is Argentine, so if you want to be close to the Arc de Triomphe, it's a good location. Also, for business travelers looking to be close to La Defense, it's not a bad choice. My office, unfortunately, is close to Bourse, so it's a bit of a hike for me, but it was nice to check out a new area of town.

I had dinner at Villa Pergolese one block over and it was delicious. Veal and potatoes in a chablis sauce. Yummm!!

Fabulous stay

from FoxsmumMelbourne
We stayed in Hotel Duret for 7 nights in October 2005. This is a great boutique hotel in the 16th and close to the metro and the R type train stations. It is about 500 metres to the Arc de Triomphe.

This hotel is very new and modern. We stayed in a standard room which was plenty roomy for the 2 of us. We paid about $282 AUS per night, not including breakfast. More fun to pop into the fabulous patisserie towards the main street for breakfast.

The staff spoke excellent English and made so many fantastic restaurant recommendations - we ate the best we did on our whole trip. The free internet access was a great bonus for keeping in touch and sorting out future travel plans.

Although not cheap, I would stay here next time I was in Paris without a doubt.

Fantastic Hotel - Loved it!!

What can I say? Me and my now fience were looking for months after booking cheap flights to Paris with Ryanair. We both wanted somewhere perfect, central, and comfortable. So after searching websites after website, we managed to get an excellent deal on the deluxe room with the aid of other reviews on this very website.

The room was spacious. The bed was extremely comfortable. I have never ever seen a better bathroom and the bath was absolutely superb. The internet was very handy with me taking my laptop, it helped to organise what we'd be doing on the day, also helping us plan our trip to the airport which was a life saver!

The staff at the hotel were superb, especially Melvin who always took the time to fully explain where was good to go from sight-seeing to clubbing at night. As well as giving us a very detailed map free of charge.

We went originally for valentines. But this was really a trip for me to propose to my girlfriend. So it was a special time for us both, hense why I wanted an excellent hotel to make it special for both of us. The hotel more than lived up to this.

Can't think what else to say about the hotel, but we certainly will be going back. Plus to add, it was the first hotel me and my partner have stayed at, and never had a signle moan about it!!

Best Kept Secret in Paris

from margienat
I stayed at Hotel Duret for six nights during our recent stay in Paris. I had business and pleasure to do. I choose Hotel Duret, based on its great central location and on the reviews I had read about it. From the very first minute on entering the hotel the staff make you feel right at home. I can not commend more highly the effort Melvin & Christine went too, explaining, being helpful and looking after their hotel guests like they were family. You can see that they both love their job and in an age where nobody remembers your name or cares who you are.. this family run small boutique hotel provides the ultimate Paris Stay. Great Hotel, Great People, Great Rooms.. What more can I say.. I can not wait to come back !! Cheers.. Marguerite.. xx

Fantastic staff makes the trip worth while

from danishchick26
Hotel Duret is a great little hotel close to attractions such as the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs Elysees. The staff however, is what makes Hotel Duret even more special. During our stay Christine went out of her way to help us with restaurant recommendations and other advice. When we asked for a fun and good restaurant, she recommended one and got us a table that same night. LOVED that restaurant and every other thing she recommended. One word of advice - do not choose the standard room as they are very small and for only a few dollars more you are able to upgrade. We will definately be back to the Duret next time we're in Paris.

Great Hotel

from Spiral123
Stayed over New Year and hotel was great. Friendly staff and hotel was top notch, great location within easy walking distance of the all the attractions and some great restaurants near by. We will be going back.

Wonderful Duret!

from SusiOslo
We stayed at the Duret for a weekend this December, and will definitely stay there again. The location in a quiet neighbourhood close to the Arc de Triomphe is excellent, the decor stylish and modern - and the staff must be the nicest in town! They were most helpful in every way - offered to book restaurants etc, allowed us to keep our big stroller in the lobby - and upgraded us from deluxe-room to suite with no extra charge. The suite was well equipped and spacious - with plenty of crawling space for our baby twins on the carpet floor. Will gladly recommend to other travellers!

Loved the Duret

from vanuatufan
We stayed at the Duret in October after having seen the reviews on tripadvisor. We loved it. Great decor, fantastic staff and good location. It was our first trip to Paris so we were a little apprehensive, but the staff was so helpful and made us feel at home. Great eateries around the hotel. Will definitely stay there on our next trip to France.

Top Local Tips for Paris

Pack a Change of Clothes in your Carry On! Life would have been much smoother if I just would have had a change of clothes... we got in after everything closed on Saturday, no stores were open on Sunday, and by Monday morning, we were sick of wearing our airplane clothes. Baggage problems occur frequently, so I wish I would have taken my own advice!

Restaurant Guy Savoy Had a marvellous dinner at the three star rated Michelin restaurant, lovely contemporary design, excellent service, young staff and we felt like royalty.

Parisian waiters Watch out for the 15%+ service charge they add on and the be prepared for very rude waiting staff. There are very few pleasentries if any and your food and drinks will be practically chucked at you. This seems to be the same for nearly all cafes & restaurants.
