Helpful Staff, Close to everything!!
from LindaRanExcellent value for money
from A TripAdvisor MemberI stayed in a comfort double room on the 5th floor. Newly renovated, very fresh bathroom and with a balcony with a partial view of the Eiffel Tower (for full view go for the superior rooms) and Les Invalides. Yes the room is not enormous, but I have never found the need to put up a tent next to the bed. The staff was extremely nice and helpful and all spoke very good English (nice staff in Paris hotels is not something your spoiled with). In terms of location this is a great area. Not too touristy, a little posh and close to everything. I booked through Hotelclub and got a really attractive price.
Good location and excellent value for money
from DobbyLocation is very good, 15 mins walk from the Eiffel tower, 5 mins walk from Metro station and loads of good restaurants and cafes. Can recommend Bistro B on Avenue Bosquet for the best fillet steak I've ever eaten.
Perfect Hotel for an Affordable Price.....
from A TripAdvisor MemberBut other than that it was a great little quaint location. NO PETS ALLOWED IN THIS HOTEL...Good affordable local restaurants...In walking distances of Invalides, the Effiel, Musee de la Marine, Palais de Chaillot, local shops and the metro.
If you're American do not expect big rooms, their rooms are very small even by economy hotels standard in the States. Enjoy Paris wherever you decide to stay.
Just OK
from Jenn65Great view
from tizbensinjThe hotel is close to Rue Cler. Metro two blocks by great outdoor cafe. Another good restuarant located behind the hotel about a block in front of Invalides. All walking distance. We only had the breakfast in room once. It was nothing spectacular. Also 11 euros per person for bread and coffee. So we chose to eat elsewhere. Since there are so many choices within a short walk or metro ride.
We were on the 4th floor in a superior room. It was good size with windows that opened. The room had air conditioning. The bath was a little strange. The toilet was in what I can only conclude was a former closet. The tub and sink in another room on the other side of the entrance. Nothing wrong just odd arrangement. The carpet like the linens are worn. Only gave us one washcloth per day. Overall a good bargain for the price. And the view was exceptional. I reserved ahead and asked for eiffel view. There were no problems and the hotel staff was responsive to my e-mails prior to arrival. I would stay here again and would recommend this hotel.
Nice hotel in Paris for the right price
from jdf3361loved the french people
from lindagettinsthere is one other thing, when we arrived i asked which one of the 2 rooms i booked was the non smoking room, the receptionist said smoke in either room. if i had gotten a room which people had been smoking in this would have ruined my holiday i think the management of the duquesne eiffel need to put this problem right or there is no point in advertising non smoking rooms. this apart we had a fab time and would definently go back to this hotel.
Everything was perfect
from A TripAdvisor MemberExcellent!!!Fantastic view,decoration,service and location
from PatyMcThe decoration was elegant and charming, and one thing that really got our atention were the maids ...they are so sweet!!! when they bring you breakfast in the room (coffe and crossaints for us) they entered the room smiling and greeting us with the sweetest french accent "bon jour madam" and if you talk to them they seem so happy just to help you in any thing you need!!
Also the reception staff were very nice and helpful answering all of our questions and giving us great sugestions, and another thing that got our atention was that one of the ladies at the reception (We forgot her name!!! but she was from the Island Mauritius) one day that my husband was sitting at the lobby reading, she noticed he was coughing and inmediatly she went to the restaurant downstairs and got him a tea!!! he was shoked!! that was not just great service, that was like being at home!!! not common at all to find such sweet people in one place!!
So this hotel is not just about Great location (just minutes walking to the Eiffel tower, tour busses, and the Invalides and just 6 Euros Taxi ride from the Champs Elisses) is not just that this Hotel is so nice that is even incluided in "The Guide of the most charming hotels in Paris", is not just the beautiful and spectacular views of the Eiffel tower from the superior rooms, is about it's people, it about it's service..the one thing you can't see in pictures but that counts more to really enjoy a place! ...and we really enjoyed Paris!!! and part of this was staying at this hotel!!!!!!
Top Local Tips for Paris
Driving and Street Signs I have never been to Paris before. My first word of advice - unless you are a professional driver or a lunatic in general, DO NOT PLAN TO DRIVE IN PARIS. While I was surprised by the unwavering friendliness of residents when I asked for directions (about 20 times), the drivers are maniacal, to say the very least. And it took me about two hours to figure out where their street signs are. The signs are tiny, bronze-ish squares located high up on the sides of buildings. Compared to US street signs they are tiny, dark, and hard to locate or read unless your vision is 20/20. We had a tour of Paris scheduled, which was cancelled the day before we left (warning: BritainShrinkers), so we decided we'd try to get around on our own. I had not prepared a route and did not know anything about the layout of the city. That experience caused a lot of fear, anxiety, and tears - things that I didn't want to experience on my first trip to Paris.
tower at night most travellers go up the eiffel tower during the day, at night the queue is not very big (if there's one at all) and it's much more romantic.
TIP? DON'T TIP. My tip: DO NOT TIP AT FRENCH RESTAURANTS. DO NOT GO BACK TO A RESTAURANT WHICH SAYS THE TIP IS NOT INCLUDED.
