| Luxurious and Noisy! |
| The lobby is beautiful! The location right in front of the train station is handy. Starbucks is right next door for the addicts. I loved the bathrooms with large windows opening to the outside. Here comes the negative part. First they didn't seem to know about my Hotel.com reservation. My credit card was charged two months before my stay. I was asked to wait briefly and they did place me in a room which turned out to be next to the maids locker / service elevator. Endless noise, loss of sleep. I complained and the next night they gave me an upgraded room at no additional charge - Great!, until 8am the next morning. I was awakened by doors slamming! At first I thought I was having a bad dream then fully awake I went out to the hall. The maids were letting the spring loaded doors slam shut one after the other! I talked to one of the employees and asked to have a talk with them. I went back to bed and the noise continued. I called the front desk - still no help. I talked at length to the manager who did not seem to grasp what was real. I asked him to come see for himself - he did not. Comments like 'No one has ever complained before' made me feel right at home. I requested a one night refund but all I received was a bottle of champaign. I spent three more weeks in Europe and never had any problems in any other hotels. For a 'Four Star Hotel' I do not think they have it. Hotel De Europe in Avignon is wonderful (very romantic) with a great resturant. Happy travel to all. |
