I had a big group of 34.I stayed there for 5 nights.I was so disappointed beacuse the staff did not help us except a Bangladeshi guy who knew English.In my room i found the TV remote was not working.there were no shampoos,lotions for each room.exp if 2 persons stayed in one room there was only one shampoo.there were no empty glasses, plates in room.for everything we aksed housekeeping we had to pay. In general it was reaaly disappointing.

I booked a club room at the concorde La Fayette. When I arrived, i checked in at the Club disk. The told me that my room will be on the 14th floor. I told them that the club rooms starts from the 15th. they responded that they added the 14th floor to the club levels and they only have a problem with the Club elevetors that dont stope at the 14th and i had to use the regular elevators untill they solve the problem. When I got into the room I found that THE ROOM IS A REGULAR ROOM (NO WORKING DISK, SMALLER SIZE, NO EXTRA PHONE, NO CLUB FURNITURE AND DECORATION, THE ENTIRE 14TH FLOOR WAS NOT FURNISHED AS A CLUB FLOOR. THE ONLY THING IN MY ROOM TO INDICATE THAT IT WAS A CLUB ROOM WAS A BATH SET WRITTEN ON IT "LA FAYETTE CLUB". I asked an American lady living at the same floor wether her room is a Club room, she replied that her room was regular as what the whole 14th floor room seemed to be. When I complained to the duty manager.. well.. you can guess the rest..he was typical "FRENCH". I sent a complain letter to the chain's manager. I got no reply (no letter, no phone call, no email, no apology of any sort) ..he seemed to be typical "FRENCH" to.

Recently back from a bussiness meeting in paris, booked the Concorde hotel on assumption that its in the middle of paris, and a 4-5 star hotel, the first impression i had on entering the room was: wire hanging out of the wall, no bulb in the lamp, air-con didnt work the first night, no soap in the bathroom, TV remote not working. That's certainly not what i expected to get after paying 190 Euros a night. Was it just my bad luck? I would certainly not stay here in future!

Arrived with trepidation having read some of these reviews, but found my 2 night weekend stay with the wife to be very pleasant.

I have stayed in better hotels for a lot less money if I'm honest, but for our purposes this was perfect.

Didn't have any gripes with the room or facilities, and found the complimentary breakfast to be excellent. The view we had out the room window was pretty awesome.

Hotel is ideally located for walking into central Paris, or if your really lazy, you don't even have to go outside to catch the metro as you can walk through the shopping mall directly from the hotel and into the metro station.

So would I use this place again....yes, in fact, I intend to do just that.

I stayed at the Concorde Lafayette in December, 2004. Upon arrival we had to wait for 3 hours until our room was ready at 5 PM. The room had a very nice view of the city, but the heater did not work, and had two twin beds, even though I had asked for a queen. I notified reception of the problem before going out to dinner at 7 PM. Returned at 11PM and found that the person in the reception did not have a clue about the problem. He promised to send somebody right away. After 2 hours I called front desk again and was told the best they could do was give me extra blankets! Next morning reported the problem yet again to front desk, and they still did not know what I was talking about (I guess they don't log problems in), but offered a new room at 5PM. Eventually got a new room with a heater that worked, and a queen bed. The rest of the stay was thankfully uneventful. On the plus side, the hotel is very close to metro and nice shopping in adjoining convention center. The staff are very corteous and all spoke English quite well.

The view from my room was spectacular and included the Eiffel Tower and Arc De Triomphe, which are both lit at night. In 1986, we stayed here for our honeymoon in the honeymoon suite, and it was simply lovely. However, returning in 2003, the regular room was in need of renovation. The hotel staff speaks English well. You can shop and catch the metro without going outside. The hotel is close to the Av. de Champs Elysees, THE street to walk down in Paris. Be sure to hit the Montmartre when you are in Paris and pick up some paintings from the artists painting there. Some of them accept credit cards. You can get to the Montmarte using the Metro. Just ask the hotel for directions. Bon chance!

Stayed here with my 8 yr old son in October 2004.

Typical business/conference hotel - staff couldn't care less (apart from the very nice man who fixed the safe in our room).

Having checked the hotel web site and packed our swimming gear, we were amazed to be told that the swimming pool / leisure centre is actually next door. A swim costs 25 Euros and under 16s are not allowed.

View from the Panoramic Bar is genuinely spectacular (don't expect to be served quickly) but apart from that the hotel is absolutely average.

I stayed at the Concorde Lafayette with a friend for two nights. Our first night another guest walked into our room with his cases in the middle of the night - it seems the Hotel were unaware we were staying in the room - although they had charged my credit card upon arrival! I was then disturbed again by hotel staff who wanted to know my name and handed me a pen to write it down -AT SIX IN THE MORNING. I complained about the intrusion to reception after breakfast, they apologised! I spent the whole day in Paris and arrived back at the hotel at around 10.30pm to find my room had not been serviced. The hotel still didn't realise I was staying? Reception again apologised and sent fresh towels to our room. We went to the bar while the room was being 'serviced' and paid 26euro for a glass of wine and a gin and tonic! My complaints were not dealt with professionally and my stay was very disappointing.

Stayed at this hotel 25th sept 2004 for 2 nights.We were on 14th floor, room was a good size, queen bed, very nice bathroom,very clean & tidy in all.Good views from the Panoramic Bar but at €21.50 a drink you wouldn't be having too many.

I must agree with most of the reviewers here and warn anyone planning a trip to this hotel to think twice about it. I've stayed there twice now, and have no plans to return.

The first time I went, I booked a standard room - it was on one of the higher floors, about 13 or 14 if I recall. Anyway, arriving late off an evening shuttle flight from London, I was not impressed to walk into my room and find it as the previous occupant had left it - bed clearly slept in the night before, ashtrays full, towels on the floor. The room obviously hadn't been touched since the previous occupant had checked out. I went straight back to the lobby and was given a room directly underneath the first one. The rooms themselves are tiny, hideously decorated and virtually devoid of any facilities - no modem access even.

The second time I stayed I pushed the boat out and went for a Club level room - although at €245 it hardly seemed worth it. The rooms are no bigger, although admittedly the decor is marginally more impressive than the rooms below. Its one saving grace is the view from the Club lounge over breakfast - as a business traveller I tend to have early-morning breakfasts with a newspaper and take my time, and this was certainly conducive to a leisurely start to the day.

Overall not a great place though, I'm surprised a chain like Concorde are prepared to tolerate somewhere in such dire need of an overhaul, especially for the rates (you'll be lucky to get a room for under €195)

Just back from Paris (August 2004).

Hotel room looks exactly like it does on the hotel website. Staff were courteous and speak excellent English.

Room has everything you need and is immaculate. We were on the 21st floor and had great views of the city, looking out towards Sacre-Coeur. The other side looks out towards the Eiffel Tower etc.

Metro Station just beside hotel and line runs straight to L'arc de Triomphe, Louvre (Mona Lisa) Museum and towards the Pompidous Centre. Can also easily get to the Eiffel Tower on the Metro and basically anywhere.

However, I would suggest walking from the hotel to the L'arc de Triomphe - it takes only 5-10 minutes and is a nice stroll and after marvelling at the view from L'arc de Triomphe, just walk down the Champs Elysees, have lunch and mosey on to the museum (straight walk) and perhaps onto Notre Dame.

You can see the hotel from the Eiffel Tower. Make sure you see the Eiffel Tower at night - it is spectacular!

Drinks and food at the hotel were very expensive so don't expect to eat there if, like me, you have a modest budget! Also, watch out for the price of alcohol - everywhere - it's a rip-off. Cheapest pint was 6.50, most are 7.50/10.50!! Wine prices are comparable to here in Dublin.

Paris is great and the hotel is just fine and dandy. Have fun!!!

I wish I could give this hotel a lower rating than 1 star, but lower ratings were not available in the list provided!!! I have never been so disappointed with a hotel.....ever!! The rooms were drab and old, the drinks in the 30th floor lounge were EXTREMELY overpriced, and for a hotel associated with a major convention center, the lack of broadband internet service for business people was inexcusable! I was unable to even obtain a telephone that would allow me to use my laptop modem until I complained directly to the manager. One morning, I turned on the faucet in the bathtub, and brown water came out!!! In the dining room at breakfast, I was shocked to encounter a large platter of scrambled eggs on the buffet with no cover whatsoever (no sneeze bar, no chafing dish cover....nothing)! I heard other stories of patrons being stuck in the elevators, and having the management tell them to open a window when the toilet would not flush, because it would be quite some time before the situation could be repaired. All this for the outrageous price of 350 euros per night!! Please don't waste your money, or the wonderful opportunity to visit other, more acceptable hotels in a beautiful city!

We went into the room and we were shocked. It was old - the shower head was dripping and loose, it looked like a hotel room from the 70's. The bed was completely sagged in the center, and we went to the front desk, had our bags dragged to the taxi and went shopping for another hotel. The front desk assured us that they would cancel the reservation - and yet we got charged! This place is really awful!

Top Local Tips for Paris

Petit good food near the Lafayette Go to eat at the nearby Petit salé - it is a reaaally tiny place, but very french (and tiny) , friendly service and very good food. The homemade paté is very good and so are most of the foods there. if you are more than 4, they'll give you the end table from where you can see the kitchen. Really french old style, and at a reasonable price.

public transport although i was not in paris for very long, i can reccommend the metro. very cheap and one ticket will do for any destination even if you have to change trains.

tips for paris open top buses were good value and regular,take the dinner cruise very nice and romantic,be careful of dinner shows they are very expensive,and tacky if you want to eat in the eifel tower there is a three is a month waiting list,take lots of pics and enjoy.
