Relais De Paris Lyon Bastille was a cramped hotel with the noise of the stairway and the elevator reaching every room through the central atrium. My friend and I accidentally booked a single bed for two people through hotel.com. We immediately sent a correction for two beds. When we arrived at the hotel they woman at the front had not received the update and did not make any changes and was quite beligerent until a manager intervened. I would not recommend the Relais De Paris Lyon Bastille if you want a hotel that offers an accomodating staff and a quiet sleep.

Top Local Tips for Paris

Metro Use the all day tickets to get around otherwise distances between tourist sites are too far to walk

shopping and sites if you plan to go shopping avoid a sunday as the gallerie and most other shops are closed, however the strip of shops at champs elysees are open on a sunday(but very expensive). To get around I would recommend the open top bus, we went on the batobus(riverboat) and were not impressed, plus the qs to get back on are ridiculous!! if you go to the Eiffel tower allow plenty of time, we went in the day and waited for two and a half hours then the top floor was closed and you had to q a further hour and a half! would recommend the Eiffel Tower at night it is breathtaking and the qs are alot shorter! Take plenty of spending money Paris is very very expensive but well worth it!

Go to Monjul Restaurant in the Marais area One of the best restaurants we've been to in ages. A very experimental menu (though the English translation really doesn't do it justice!) but definitely the place to go if you're a bit of a foodie! Every dish we had was fantastic and had been created with real love and care. Brave and unusual mixtures of flavours from all over the world but all were gorgeous. The price was great too at Euros 29 for 3 courses or Euros 50 for the tasting menu which we wished we'd had!
