Years ago, my brother stayed at this hotel on quite a few occasions. When I went to Paris for the first time, I was in my 20's and single. I returned a few years later-married. Today, I send my son and daughter (18 and 21) to the Bourdonnais--confident that they will love Paris all the more because of the comfort, security, cleanliness and friendly assistance that they will receive at this hotel--just as I did in the past. Is there any compliment and recommendation better than sending my children to this hotel?

My husband and I decided to stay here with our toddler in March, based on the reviews. The hotel is in an ideal location for tourists, within walking distance of many tourist destinations (and the Metro, for those farther afield), plus the grocery next door and Rue Cler around the corner allow for easy provisions. Though our room didn't have the most updated decor, it was very clean and the spacious bathroom looked as though it had recently been remodeled. The small in-room refrigerator was fantastic for our milk-craving child, and they provided a large pack-n-play as a crib. The elevator is a bit cramped with an umbrella stroller but still manageable, a definite plus.

Great find in Paris

Very few hotels in Paris allow a family of four to share a room. This one does!! It has a wonderful family room that has two double beds, a desk and chair. The bathroom was very large. It had a large tub, sink, and table, with the toilet in a separate closet. The hotel is located on a quiet upscale residential street. There is a full grocery store right next door so that you can purchase bottles of water or snacks. The metro is a very short block away. And restaurants are in every direction less than a block from the hotel. The hotel is located between the Eiffel tower and the Invalids; they are both a long walk. WE loved this hotel's location and found it to be very nice. Best value we found!

Nice bathrooms - rooms just ok

My boyfriend and I stayed here in Febryary for 4 days. The location is very close to Eiffel Tower. We booked this as part as an Expedia package so we really didnt know what we were in for.
The bathrooms were spacious, but not that functional the room was a little worn. It seems they are relying heavily on "Oh that's just French style" The walls are pretty thin. It appears they were doing construction on another floor that woke up very early on Saturday. We could hear whenever someone walked by our room. Our window faced the unatrractive backs of all the residential building. I'm not sure if it was a courtyard. Next time I will have to pony up the dough and stay somewhere more expensive. I guess I'm spoiled, but I expect more on my hard earned vacations. No more package trips from Expedia either.

Would stay at Hotel de La Bourdonnais again!

My Family and I visited Paris last April(2004). We stayed at this hotel for five days. What mostly pleased us was the staff. It was our first time in Paris, and they really helped us with information and overall good service. They were friendly, well mannered and just NICE!
The rooms are not luxury rooms, but they are kept very clean. The bathrooms are very spacious. Location is great - just a couple of blocks from the Eiffel Tower. Good restaurants nearby and Metro stations (Ecole Militare). We had two rooms, one facing the street, with a balcony from where we could see part of the tower, but it was a bit noisy at night. The other room, didn't have a view, it faced a small, not pretty couryard, but there was no noise. It is in a residential area . One drawback was that to get back to the hotel from the city "cente" it would take 20-30 min. on buses or Metro. We felt safe, and even though we stayed at another more "prestigious" hotel at the end of our trip, if we visited Paris again, we would rather stay at La Bourdonnais.

I don't have any experience with other Paris hotels, but Hotel Bourdonnais certainly met our needs for a well-located and comfortable hotel. The room was big for Paris - from what I've read - with two queen-size beds, a large bathroom, and a separate toilet and closet area. Also, there was a small TV for those witching hours when everyone needs some downtime but you're too wound up to sleep! The location was great for us; a short walk to Champs du Mars and then on up to the Eiffel Tower. Many brassieries and shops right around the corner and easy access to the Metro.

I read the reviews here on TripAdvisor.com first before choosing it as part of an Expedia hotel/flight package. Stayed in Room 401 from 21 Feb to 28 Feb 2004. Me, my wife, and my 2 preteen daughters. We found the beds comfortable. It was nice to see out the window and see the Eiffel Tower. The room had an oriental rug on the floor, lots of closet space, great double-paneled French windows --- which meant that we did not hear any street noise at night. The bathrooms were most impressive. A toilet in its own room, faux pink marble tiles floor to cieling, dual sinks and a separate table in the bathroom. This was much larger than our London hotel. We felt this was truly a great place for the price and location. Staff were friendly, rooms were kept clean. Thanks again for all the people who posted previously.

OK, we booked this hotel after reading rave reviews on this thread so feel it's only right to return the favour with an honest review. the hotel is in a great location right by the metro. supermarket next door and cafe on the corner. you should note the closest metro (ecole militaire) closes at 9pm from mid feb until late june for refurb. we had a large room (for paris) and as requested, could see the tower from the window. the staff were friendly and helpful at all times.
However...the decor in the room was very tired, in desperate need of freshening up. the bathroom was really dated and smelled pretty damp, the grubby shower curtain didn't help. Staining on the walls in the room etc just due to age, this gave the overall impression of very much less than the 3 stars over the door, the bedding was also pretty dated and just overall made us feel a little uneasy. We had a look at other rooms, but they were all the same, as we had paid up front, we had to stay. Even although there are plus points, I would not stay here again unless it underwent a major facelift. The area is great, so take a look around, as there is bound to be something better, there's plenty to choose from!

We stayed at the Hotel la Bourdannais for 4 nights in February. You could not ask for a better location. Rooms small, but very well kept.
Great neighborhood, close to Ecole militaire metro stop, Rue Cler, Eiffiel Tower, Champs de Mar. A number of cafes, bistro (Bistro de Papa is great). Skip the overpriced hotel breakfast and go to one of the neighborhood cafes. Hotel staff was very helpful. Would stay here again.

Just returned from 10 days in Paris. The Hotel de la Bourdonnais was an ideal place to stay. It is situated on a lovely, tree-lined street in the upscale 7th arr. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious for Paris. A metro stop, attractive sidewalk cafes, a supermarket, the Champs de Mars and Rue Cler are all less than a minute's walk away. The attitude of the desk staff is variable. Most are friendly and helpful. One or two are cool, but cooperative. Didn't eat breakfast in the hotel because the steep 10.50 euro pricetag can be bettered in any number of small cafes and bars nearby. Will definitely stay here again.

Just got back from spending 3 nights at this hotel. Location was great as it was a short walk to the Eiffel tower and Rue Cler. There were four of us in our room and it was tidy and well-kept. The service was acceptable for a hotel of this class in Paris. The only problems we encountered were at the end of our visit. When presented with the bill there were three breakfasts and two coffees that we did not order or consume on the bill. Instead of taking them off the desk staff, especially a dark-haired man, became belligerant and rude to us. They insisted that we pay for things that we did not have and after 15 minutes of arguing I left 20 euros on the desk (more than was owed) and departed. It's unfortunate when a hotel experience goes south so quickly over what was then a difference of 3 euros. If you stay here make sure you carefully check your bill upon departure.

Top Local Tips for Paris

Dining on the Seine Book a river cruise with an evening meal included - we used "Bateaux Parisien" - what a great evening, superb food and great entertainment from a small band with two really good singers ( boy and girl), and all this whilst watching Paris from the boat.

Walking Take some sturdy boots and get your map out and walk everywhere. Metro is cheap and efficient and the Batobus is reasonable too. But to get a real feel of the city, you need to walk it. There are so many interesting bits you can miss rushing about on public transport. Also, if you want a portrait draw in the artists square, make sure you haggle the price down. We got the guy down from 60 euro to 25!!!!

Metro Pass Make sure you get a metro pass! Don't bother to book the open top bus tours. Not worth it.
