breakfast to save a bit of cash, there's a cafe owned by a former bostonite right around the corner. Coming out of the hotel turn to the left, cross at the light and it's just to the left. They open early on Sundays when nothing else does. The hot chocolate is amazing.

Metro discount If you plan to be in Paris more than three days, purchase a one week (or one month) Orange Card at a large Metro station. It gives you unlimited access to the Metro for around 12 Euros per week. They are offered for sale on Mon, Tue and Wed. You need to bring a small face photo, or use one of the nearby photo booths to take one.

Catching a cab in Paris If there's a line-up at a taxi stand in Paris, you may find yourself waiting a long time. Either call a radio-taxi or just wander up to a major street and start aggressively waving - you may have better luck this way. This was definitely the best option in the evening when all the theatres emptied out and most of the cabs were already busy.
