I did not find my stay at the Bergere Opera a pleasure.
The 5th Floor was being painted and decorated. There were various cleaning utensils left on the 5th floor including ladders, brushes, hoovers etc. Plastic sheeting on the floor. Bedrooms were full of paint fumes. Lifts were extremely dirty. Everwhere was very dusty. I would not stay at that hotel again. Also some reception staff were very rude and unhelpful!!!!!

Metro Use the Metro to go EVERYWHERE. We didn't use a bus service once and it was our first time. Paris is pretty simple to figure out, especially when you come from a city like New York.

WHAT?
Needless to say, after a stressful trip, my two friends broke down crying, and the receptionist decided to give us the cot for free. I was really grateful, and was thinking, 'Yes! Finally the trip will start going well!' Wrong.
The room, for 128 euros a night, was horrible. The TV did NOT work, the clock was malfunctioning, there were holes in the ceiling and floor, there was white stuff growing behind the exposed pipes in the bathroom, and there was a leak in the pipes right by the toilet. Absolutely gross. And to top it off, we requested a non-smoking room, but were given a smoking one. This was a serious problem for my friend who's health is fairly delicate.
We ended up switching the next day to a room that was 185 euro, but we got it for 125 euro, due to the fact that my friend cried some more. They even threw in a free cot again. For this, I'm grateful. The new room was somewhat of an upgrade, except for the fact that the TV and clocks still didn't work, and the white stuff was still creeping up the walls in the bathroom.
To top it off, they locked us out. My friends and I went travelling the next day, and didn't return until 1:30 in the morning. When we got to our hotel, it was locked. Good, security right? But when we knocked, and explained we were customers, the receptionist WAVED US OFF, and refused to let us in for 3 minutes.
Overall, the hotel was nothing of what we expected. They did honestly try to help us, but some things were just too gross and inappropriate. They could clean the walls maybe and check the piping, among other things? Anyways, I would NOT recommend this hotel!
