Things to do in Buenos Aires Although I loved Buenos Aires there isn't a right lot to see in the day (other than eating and shopping!) - therefore if you've any spare days and want to chill out from the city I'd recommend day trips to Colonia in Uruguay (you catch the Burquebus ferry and it takes about 1hr to get there). It's a really pretty town and you can hire bikes - you only need an afternoon there but it's a nice place to go for some lunch and you also get more stamps in your passport! Also, Tigre is a good day trip (you take the train from Retiro station and it takes about 45 minutes).
