All the people that write positive reports: please wake up (or is it the hotel owners themselves that write them?) This is not hotel; this is a CRIME. You have to pay in cash-but you will get nothing to confirm you paid. So they can take your money again! They additionally overcharge you (i. e. you have to pay more than your booking said). Very bad air in rooms, nothing to put your clothes. The staff is not just unfriendly- they are criminals. If the "mangagement" responds to my review, their response will include lies, just as they lied at me on every possible occasion. This hotel needs to be shut.

We staY 4 days in a romm with 3 beds with a nice bathroom inside. Probably the number 19. Room is nice and confortable, bathroom is large, with toilet and bain, it's CLEAN.
Breakfast is good in french stylish.
Staff is very kind.
The hotel is near the metro.
The only problem is the payment on cash.

It's a fine little hotel, quirky, yes, and the fact it obviously works to a tight budget means it's lacking in frills, but Ilove the place. The rooms on the upper floors have been refurbished since I was last there. It's a friendly, eccentric little establishment, and if you don't mind a bespoke expererince you'll be charmed by it. Try to get an upper room - quiet and with some with nice views.

Avoid this hotel. The bill has to be paid in cash on arrival. The manageress hid one of the 50 euro notes we had paid with and made us pay again. Never encountered such blatant cheating in a lifetime's travelling before.

Many years ago I stayed at the Andre Gill at the advice of an Australian friend. I found it to be very charming and hope to return this fall. At that time, I had a private room and it seems unfortunate to me that only "dorm" types are available. I hope that will change.
Great value for money

This is a cross between a hostel and a hotel. It has no common kitchen or large dorms, but has the atmosphere of a hostel. Basic but clean with very friendly and helpful staff. Perfect location - 3 minute walk to the Pigalle metro station. Half way up the hill to the Sacre Ceour. Gorgeous. So easy to get to anywhere you want to go in Paris. If you're staying in a dorm (at most 3 people), the owner tries to put you in with people she thinks you'll get on with. I thought this was a very nice touch. Our room was small and basic but had a bathroom in the room which was a lovely change from most hostels. Breakfast is included. The only real thing I would say against this hotel is that there is NO SAFETY DEPOSIT BOX. The owner says they have never had any trouble, but that's not to say they never will. Other than that I would definitely recommend this hotel - great value for money.
