At 54 Euros you still expect a hotel to look and feel spotless. The Amiot isn't. The whole place looks and feels tacky including the inside of the elevator.
You won't feel like being in physical contact with anything in the Amiot.
The bedroom had laminate flooring which is a plus, but the toilet had a slightly leaking cistern, and it was impossible to fathom out how to get hot or warm water from the single tap basin and shower. (Seemingly there's a "knack" to it from what I was told upon leaving!).
The bedsheets felt sticky after one night probably because they were made of cheap synthetic material. But not a nice comfortable feeling in a bed.
The TV cut out unexpectedly on the second day. It did have some freeview channels though. like CNN.
If you don't mind the slight feeling, look of dirtiness and you want to stay just across the road from Gare de l'Est, the Amiot (avoid chambre 16) could be bearable for a night, but they won't see me again.
A much better bet 150 metres away is the Nord et Champagne at just a few Euros more. It has good reviews and that's why I chose it last year.
This year as I visited unexpectedly, it was full on the night.
The staff at the Amiot were nice enough but the management needs to read this review! And take action.
Independent Traveller (I would rate the Hotel 3.5/10)
