Top Local Tips for Paris
Bonjour! Comment ca va? I speak a little French and found people were so helpful when I did--even when they had to speak Englsih for me to understand. I also watched as English speakers who didn't great and demanded English were treated very coldly and with no help. The tip--memorize the greating above, use it,expect they'll be as freindly as you are--you'll have a wonderful time and great experiences.
Paris Metro is easy to use! This was our second trip to Paris, we used the public transport to get to all of the attractions including Palace of Versailles. Please don't be intimidated to ask the metro staff shoud you have any questions about any of your destinations as they have always been helpful to us during our trips. Avoid the use of the Taxi's (if you can do so!) as they are very expensive. Instead, buy a metro pass for the number of days that you will be in Paris. Dont forget to use the discount coupon book that you will be given when you purchase the metro pass....it will save you some $$$$!!
Police The Police in paris carry guns and they have powers to do anything they want to. It is not Britain or America. Do not be suprised if they stop a tube train for doin something as small as putting your feet on a chair.

I could have not ask for a nicer hotel. The only thing missing was a lift. I was on the 5th floor so the desk did carry my luggage. Location was great for the metro. I enjoyed it for 6 nights. Very ethnic neighborhood but safe and easy to walk around. I give them a 10.
