We stayed there for ten days and liked it very much.
The hotel staff was very professional, and helpfull. The room was clean, had internet access, extra pillows, minibar and nice size bathroom.
We received plenty of clean towels and soap&other toiletries every day.
Hotel offers other amenities such as loundry cleaning, room service, breakfast, small pool and hot tub,and other standard services.
The location is also very convenient, within walking distance of beach, and close to bakeries, and caffes.
We went to Paris for a couple of days, and hotel let us leave our luggage with them.
All in all, it was a pleasant experience and great value for our money.
The hotel staff was very professional, and helpfull. The room was clean, had internet access, extra pillows, minibar and nice size bathroom.

after consulting this website, as I always do before a trip, I nearly decided to cancel my reservation to the hotel nice riviera .
but i did not. and I'm so glad we chose this hotel!
We stayed for two nights over the recent Bank Holiday weekend We were in a "classic room " This hotel is a good 4 star hotel. It is beautifully stylish in its interior. The service was impeccable. reception staff is very freindly , Rooms well furnished and clean with the most comfortable beds and the bathrooms were modern and spotless.

The only couple of small criticisms I have are that the pool area is too small and, the breakfast buffet didn't have a fantastically large variety of cooked food but there was ample choice of cereals, fruits and breads/croissants.
I would not hesitate in recommending this charming and stylish hotel and can't wait to go back.

My wife and I arrived at the Nice Riviera for the second leg of our honeymoon, our first impressions of the hotel were that it was okay. We were given a map on arrival and shown where most of the attractions were in the city. So far so good. The next day 50euro went missing from our room after it had been cleaned - we checked everywhere in the room before I went downstairs and asked at the reception if the maid may have moved it somewhere - knowing fine well this wouldn't be the case. The manager of the hotel advised me the maid wouldn't have stolen it (I didn't even suggest this) as she had worked in the hotel for 10 years. 5 mins later and we had a loud knock at our door and then the maid burst in not uttering a word to us, proceeded to stomp over to the bed, put her hand under it and produced the 50 euro note as if by magic (I had checked under the bed at least twice before she arrived), she then stomped back out and slammed the door behind her. I was glad we got our money back but I was disappointed in the way we were made to feel like the bad people and at how dishonest the staff seemed to be.
Other than that debacle we had a great time in Nice, we didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel though. Although we did enjoy the Jacuzzi and steam room, good stuff. I also thought the rooms were fine albeit a little dated, we had no trouble with any sewerage stench from the bathroom. If we were to go back to Nice I think we could find a better hotel for the same money.

Extremely disappointing

A truly disappointing experience. I have stayed in many hotels across Europe, some of which offered better prices than this hotel but of a much, much higher quality. I found the staff to be rude and disengaging with visitors. They made it clear they did not appreciate people sitting at the bar drinking, as this meant more work for them. This was my second visit to Nice, the last time we stayed at the Hotel Beau Rivage- a much better experience in my opinion. The rooms were antiquated, old fashioned and the cleanliness left something to be desired. The bathroom however was clean, but there was a pungent smell of sewage that arose every couple of hours. We paid over £100 a night for a " superior room" . In my opinion, this was a complete injustice- a " rip off". I found the locals extremely unfriendly and completely non-customer service orientated.
Our room had a terrace on the 6th floor, but even the furniture on the terrace could have done with a good clean!!
I would not return to this hotel, and would not recommend it. This hotel felt like a 1970's revamp, with old fashioned decor and no exciting features.

Not worth the money

Just back from this hotel and was very disappointed. At a first glance it seemed ok, but on closer inspection I saw it for what it really was-a dump! I have stayed in better travel lodges for half the price! The mini-bar clearly hadn't been cleaned in months and stank! The bathroom was flooded by a sewage smell every few hours! The air conditioning clearly wasn't working properly as the room was hot and stuffy. The staff on reception were unfriendly and were often rude. The only good thing about this hotel is the location.

The Hotel Building is fine - the rooms are pleasant enough, there's a small but nice swimming pool and jacuzzi and a little steam room. However, nothing prepares you for the indifference, which often turns to rudeness of the staff, and the sheer lack of any service ethos.
First, front desk staff are rude and, when we checked out, agressive - especially when we pointed out inaccuracies in the bill. No apology was ever made.
The bar, room service, etc all stop at 2230. The mini 'bar' consisted of a dirty little fridge with some dreary soft drinks and the nearest you can get to a cheeky summer drink is the two small cans of over priced Heineken.
Breakfast was truly appalling - the coffee was just disgusting. Food consisted of dried bread and croissants that were doing impersonations of boulders. Breakfast was overpriced but helpfully added on to the bill whether we had it or not.
The desk staff and night staff should consider alternative employment as night club bouncers or traffic wardens.

Rude, inhospitable and dirty

We arrived in the full throng of the world cup at the hotel, we made allowances for the off hand and dismissive welcome to hotel in light of this. Even when the key was thrown at us we did not worry too much. However this was but a taster for the poor service received at Hotel Nice Riviera
Our room was fine, inadequately stocked mini bar and plug sockets hanging off the wall but functional, certainly not four star more like two.
Breakfast was disgusting, the coffee stewed (this was only 9am) and the bread so tough to eat you needed to work out before chomping on it! We did not eat in there again. if you wanted anything from the hotel past 10.30 forget it!
The staff continued to be rude, dismissive and made us feel that we were in the way, the night porter especially so! This we found was a common trait of most people in Nice to be honest. By the end of the week the bed was smelly (clearly they did not change the sheets) and the mini bar (overpriced) was restocked whet he cleaner felt like it.

Nice we found to be the same, the guidebook described the old town as quaint and picturesque- this maybe the case if you can dodge the excrement and smell of urine whilst avoiding the tramps and beggers. Avoid if you can and go up the coast to Cannes or Antibes

Righting a Wrong

I almost canceled my reservation after reading the May reviews of this hotel. Upon checking in we were given a smallish, dark room. After speaking to the front desk, we were promised a more light and airy room for the remainder of our stay. The next day we were moved to a terrace room which was lovely at no extra charge. The breakfast was adequate with plenty of coffee. We found the staff terrific, approachable and not arrogant in the least. My point: Ask for what you want in a respectful, not demanding, way and you usually will be accomodated. This hotel is in no way a dump and the May reviewers did a disservice to this a fine hotel in a great location.
Really not as bad as it sounds below.

I booked this hotel back in March, and since then, some real stinking reviews went online. I stuck with my guns because I got it at a pretty good rate and the location suited us. I think some of the comments below must be about a different hotel, because they just don't ring true to this place.
1st thing to note, is that this place IS NOT a 4 Star hotel - rather naughtily, the name of the hotel is Nice Riviera 4****, it is not illegal in France to to this, they could if they wanted to, call the place Nice Riviera 7********.
The place "officially" has 3 stars - and in my extensive experience of French hotels, I'd say that this is a case of just about made it to 3 stars. This is not to be taken as a negative. The rooms are spacious and clean, the bathrooms are clean with good water pressure to the shower. My room had a balcony which was nice for having a cigarette.
Breakfast is fine (if included in you room rate), but not worth €15.00 if you have to pay for it.
The air fresheners in the corridor didn't bother me.
Staff were courteous and helpful all the time, but rather worryingly, they didn't take any of my details at check-in, which is a French legal requirement.
The location of the hotel is perfect, and the area is far far from being seedy. It's great for the old town, the beach and the train station for trips further afield.

What a dump!

Where do I begin??? We got there and the desk clerk was also serving as the bartender - he asked my name, threw the key on the counter and went running off - no passport check, no "Can I be of assistence?" nothing. We took the scary elevator to a smelly floor and went into a hot, dingy, smelly room. We had to wedge the room key into the tv power button to get the tv to stay on. We stayed there two nights and it was quite unpleasant. We only saw hotel staff when we left and then the front door wouldn't open! I thought maybe some of the reviewers who rated it poorly had unrealistic expectations considering the good reviews. I had moderate expectations, but this is truly a dump. This was not worth any amount of money - it's in a seedy place with lots of street noise, we saw lots of better places where we will stay the next time we are in Nice.
Top Local Tips for Nice
bus or trainrather than taxi get the bus from the number 99 or 98 bus directly into nice centre from outside terminal two of the airport, and save yourself a lot of euros! frequent services that depart every 20 minutes. the nearest train station to the airport is Nice St Augustin which is walkable if you don't have heavy luggage!
Arranging the shuttle bus from/to hotel If available,book the hotel shuttle bus before you go with the hotel,costs 38 euro. We were told the taxis were vere expensive. When you coming home,book the shuttle the day before you leave at a cost of 28 euro.They collect you at the airport and drop right back to your terminal when you're leaving.
