Historical Traveller Reviews of Nice Garden Hotel

Adored this hotel

This was our first visit to Nice, France and wanted a clean small hotel with charm and character. We also wanted local advise with what to see. We consulted trip Advisor and found everything we needed. Marion (the owner) is a very special lady. She gave us a beautiful room, outstanding tour advise and was always there when we need something. This hotel is rated two star only because there is not a 24 hour desk person. Marion and her family make this a 5 star experience because of their attentive and caring customer service. Thank you Marion!

Lovely Little Hotel

from Dominika
We stayed for two nights in this lovely little hotel and highly recommend it. The hotel itself is perfectly placed - just 200 yards from the seafront and a ten minute walk into the old town.

The rooms are all on the ground floor and built round a pretty walled garden. The rooms are decorated in a simple, unfussy french style with comfortable beds and gleaming en-suites. But what really sets this hotel apart is the warm and welcoming manner of the owner and her family . You're greeted as an old friend from the moment you arrive.

If you're looking for glamour and glitz., this may not be the place for you. But if you are looking for an authentic family-run hotel, go, you will not be disappointed.

Wonderful accomondation

No hotel is more wonderful hotel than this!!

It's easy to access anywhere! The sea, the restrant and the station...
Every room has own character. And most of them face to the pretty garden.

Especially, Marion and her family treated us as a real family member!! They have done their best to make our stay fabulous.

So I'll be back this hotel and try another room!

Little Gem in Nice

from hepburn52
We just came back from staying at this wonderful little hotel.
It is a 5 mins walk to the sea, shops and Old Nice
Our room for 3 was a decent size and overlooked the lovely garden in the back.
Marion & her family who run the hotel make you feel so welcome you almost don''t want to leave! They do an incredible job and aim to please in every way.
Some of the rooms are in the midst of being renovated and I think down the road it is going to be hard to try and book this little place as it is going to become so popular.
Thank you Marion!

A small charming hotel with the most wonderful family ambiance

from frenchyNewyork
Just spend 5 days in this small charming hotel where rooms open on a lovely garden. It wast the most wonderful experience in this family ambiance where the owner is trying her best to please each one of her customers. You can't imagine better location,2 minutes from the famous "Promenades des Anglais"! Also surrounded by multiple shops and many nice restaurants. Overall an excellent value for a very affordable price! Highly recommended!

Friendly and fun

Stayed here for a pre-Xmas break the second week in December. Small hotel, all on the ground floor, and our rooms all overlooked the courtyard garden, which was definitely a boon (convivial wine and planning session under the orange trees of an evening - bliss). Rooms slightly scruffy round the edges, but clean and well set up. The rooms are also currently undergoing renovation and the one we saw which had been finished was excellent, so I suspect that by the end of 2007 they will all be extremely good. That said, value for money is very good as it is, which is why I have awarded the rating I have. Very well situated, about 2mn walk from main shopping area and 10mns from old town. Lots of decent eateries within easy strolling distance, and buses along the coast go from about 5mn away.

The real selling point of the hotel is really Madame Hoffman and her family, who run it. Always on hand, multi-lingual (even the dog!) and extremely friendly, the hotel would probably rate an above average rating without them, but I cannot praise them enough.

Breakfast reasonably priced and very good as well, which I have found not always the case in French hotels. Enjoy.

Nice hotel, wonderful personal service, lovely stay

from djfozzer
Lovely charming family run hotel ideally located in the centre of Nice (close to station, old town and beach).

We stayed here recently as part of our honeymoon and had a lovely stay. Right from arrival, Marion is quick to welcome you in to her hotel and make you feel comfortable - nothing is too much trouble.

Breakfast was excellent value for money - simple and fresh continental breakfast for 7 Euros - shaming the likes of the Hilton and Holiday Inn who charge 20+ Euros

For a 2 star hotel the room was comfortable, very clean and well furnished. Our shutter doors opened on to an idyllic garden with birds chirping merrily in the evening and morning.

The only complaint and a very minor one (the review would have been 4.5 out of 5 if it could be scored that way) was the size of the shower in the bathroom. For someone who is 6ft plus, there was no way for me to turn around in the shower and shower comfortably.

As mentioned a minor issue for a lovely hotel. Thank you for a most pleasant stay.

Wonderful little hotel

from surreytravels
What a find! The hotel is in a fantastic position, a few minutes walk from one of the airport bus stops and also a few minutes from the beach, from the old town and from a pedestrianised street buzzing with life, cafes, little shops and Nice life. It appears to be family run, everyone is so very helpful and friendly - my 18 year old daughter commented that it was more like going to visit friends than checking in to a hotel. There has been some redecoration recently, our room was a decent size with view of the garden.

Great location, Excellent service!

from tybec
This was our first trip to France, and Marion was so welcoming. The hotel had a great location- very short walk to the beach, and close to lots of attractions. The breakfasts were excellent. Marion speaks fluent English, which was great for us since we barely speak French. She knows the area well, and was happy to give us tips on things to do. The room was nice and overlooked the garden area. My husband thought his side of the bed was a bit slanted, but we still slept great... All in all, an excellent stay!

Charming place

I spent almost a week at Nice Garden Hotel, and had a lovely stay. The garden is beautiful, Marion and her family are very helpul, the setting is very convenient and comfortable -- guests experience privacy and personal care together. An excellent and very highly recommended place to stay -- I'd definitely go back and hope to do so some day.
