My husband and I have stayed three times at this hotel in Nice, the last time being for ten days to incorporate the Monaco Grand Prix. Each time we have been here we had different rooms, all of which were excellent. We know they are small but then it does say so. Sam, her husband and daugher are wonderful people and her staff, including the night shift are second to none. We have nothing but great memories from our stay over the years and are planning our next trip later this year. Would not stay anywhere else but here. First class in every way.

Great location - convenient for main railway station, shops and beach.
Excellent staff - very helpful and friendly.
Rooms small, but not a problem, and not unusual for a traditional hotel. Good facilities - fridge, safe and tea/coffee making facilities included for no extra charge.

Typical French breakfast - help yourself to lovely crusty French bread, butter, honey, jam, croissants, pain au chocolat, yoghurt, cereal.

Charming courtyard area. Bar service available - alcohol, soft drinks, tea, coffee, chocolate.

Highly recommended.

Top Local Tips for Nice

Trains France has an excellent railway system. From Nice, it is less than 30 minutes to Monaco, Italy is just beyond and, in the other direction lie such gems as Antibes, St Tropez and of course Cannes. But, for a shorter trip take the train to Villefranche sur Mer - you won't be disappointed with this beautiful village.

Museum Chagall This Museum is situated in Cimiez which is a hill near to the mainline station in Nice. I found the Museum very interesting/incredible. Lots of Chagall paintings to enjoy. It wasn't busy when we visited there near lunchtime. We walked from the Station to the bottom of the hill and caught a bus. the busstop is clearly signposted for the Chagall Museum and further up the hill you can visit the Matisse Museum. There is very nice open air restaurant at the Chagall Museum and a small shop.

Galleries ie Museum Chagall I found this museum excellent. Lots of Chagall paintings including the old testament themes. Also has a lovely garden cafe/restaurant in the gardens close to the front of the building. Renoir's last house worth a visit in Cagnes-Sur-Mer worth a visit but closes at lunchtimes. You catch the bus to Cannes from Nice (1 euro 30! - takes about 30- 40 mins. It's well signposted from the small main bus terminal in Cagnes-Sur-Mer. You can then visit Chateau Grimaldi easily from the main bus terminal. A free bus takes you to the top of the hill about every 15 mins. It's not very big but had a couple of very interesting painting exhibitions on display. Lovely views at the top and nice restaurants to sit outside and admire the stunning views.
