Top Local Tips for Nice
Watch out for the taxi's from the airport We were ripped off by the taxi driver from the airport, who kept chatting to us all along the way and soon as we got to the hotel, said the fare was 38euro and turned off his meter. We thought there was something suspicious about that, and decided to ask at the check in desk. They informed us some taxi drivers were like that and next time to insist we want a reciept for the fare as soon as we get in, that way they have no choice than to tell us the actual amount as they can be traced from their receipt and penalised if reported to the authorities.
Airport transfer Nice is pretty expensive. It cost 35 Euros for a cab for 4 of us to be dropped off to our hotel, which is a 10-15 minute drive. On the way back we opted for the bus/ airport shuttle, costs approx 4 euros per person. Not very busy and definitely worthwhile considering if you don't have too much baggage.
Use tram from railway station Taxi from Nice Ville station cost 20 euros. New tram line stops 100m from station & hotel is 3 stops away, get off at Gallerie Lafayette stop (1 euro).
