Fantastic views

It is pricey, and our room was smallish with a certain lack of style to the furnishings and carpet. But it had what must be the best view from a hotel in the whole of Nice: - it was double aspect, with a small balcony looking directly over the sea, and the other windows looking along the Promenade to the airport and the mountains beyond. It is the same view that can be see from the La Chateau.

The staff were very friendly, they booked restaurants for us and were generally helpful.

Lovely hotel, perfect location

I just returned from my honeymoon, the first 3 nights of which we spent in Nice at the Hotel Perouse. We loved the location and the easy access to the port, the beach and old Nice. Our room was quaint and comfortable and extremely quiet, but to say we had a sea view was a stretch since we had to walk out onto the tiny terrace and look out over the rail to the right to see the ocean. We did get a decent rate ($220/night including breakfast) ... perhaps a higher rate would've gotten us a better sea view. The restaurant and the pool were lovely. The only thing that bothered us (only because we were in such a celebratory mood) was that they wouldn't serve alcohol at the pool. Also, it would be nice if they incorporated the beach fee for the private beach across the street($20) into the room rate ... it is very odd to be paying to go to the beach but of course I learned that this is the norm on the riviera.

I’ve read a lot about La Perouse over the years and it’s a comfortable hotel but not the luxury property you might expect from the rates charged. The public areas are quite nice and the setting of the pool is stunning. The rooms vary quite a bit from what we could tell and for the most part, the pricing reflects whether or not you have a view of the ocean The staff is accommodating and we enjoyed our stay but for a better view at half the price, you might try the deluxe rooms at the Hotel Suisse next door where I had stayed on an earlier visit. We used this as a base while Cote d’Azur and Nice is particularly good for that since it’s centrally located and a great place to just walk around at night and enjoy the bars and restaurants without the hassle of driving (which you probably will have done most of the day.) The hotel is in a fine location at the east end of the famous promenade just at the edge of Old Nice where the daily markets are held and most of the interesting nightlife seems to be.

I don't know why people talk about parking, you walk in give them your keys and thats all, then call and liek magic your car is there, no problem. It is a most delightful hotel built on theside of a cliff which accounts for the multiple elevator rides you take but also is responsible for the totally unique layout. the pool and restaurant areas are wonderful. The gym is on the roof where the view makes you forget waht you are doing there in the first place. the Jacuzie is also on the roof for a most romantic setting you have ever seen. I looked for the best in Nice and surely found it.

Spent 2 night of our honeymoon here last week, fantastic!! Champagne on arrival, a choice of 2 rooms and very friendly staff. Ideally located for the port, old town and the promenade yet very peaceful.

Great pool area, good breakfasts- the best located hotel in Nice!!

I have travelled all over the world and I was never treated as rudely as I was by the staff of the Hotel Perouse. I was very rudely told that there was no access for me in this hotel, since I am a wheelchair user, and I was not even given a chance to reply or to ask further questions. They hunged up on me without making me finish my sentence, just because I am disabled! I am used to the possibilty of finding places that are not accessible for the disabled ( even if, by law, they should be), but the staff of these places, usually uses a very polite and gentle tone of voice to break the bad news and kindly try to suggest me other hotels.
Instead the staff of the hotel Perouse, treated me as a dog is treated where it is not welcomed!

An absolutely perfect place to stay in Nice. The views are incredible, the rooms delightful, morning breakfast wonderful, great pool, hot tub, sauna, and gym facilities, and a staff that couldn't have been more helpful. Despite what other reviewers said about parking, we had no problem and used the hotel valet which was quick and easy. I would never stay anywhere else in Nice.

My partner and I have just returned from Nice having spent 5 nights at this excellent hotel. The staff were friendly and efficient; the views from the roof and pool area quite breathtaking; the breakfast was delicious; our room was secluded with a huge balcony; and the bathroom was quite heavenly with a large bath and plenty of hot water and large soft towels. The only daunting aspect related to staying here is that 'reception' is at street level and it is necessary to take a (small) lift up several floors to reach the first main floor then there are another 5 floors! We were on the fifth so that meant another lift and another flight of stairs. Getting to the top was worth it BUT it ain't easy just to pop in and out of the hotel at whim! The lifts worked well but perhaps waiting for them could become a nuisance during the busy season. Anyway, we shall certainly be returning!

This hotel itself is okay, however, if you are arriving by car you must be aware of the awkward parking situation that awaits you. We arrived by car in the evening and I was surprised that the parking lot was a public one and was not so close or obvious to get to. First we unloaded the car in front of the hotel's nonexistent front parking space. There was no shoulder in front of the hotel, so our car blocked a lane of traffic and so oncoming cars were forced to swerve around us at high speeds just after coming around a curve. I was so nervous as traffic whizzed by like I was an accident waiting to happen. The hotel front desk clerk and bellperson were unmoved and felt it was not a problem.
Then I find that the parking was a public lot down the street. Okay, the bellman was willing to do this for us but we thought we could manage, which we did but with some difficulty. I speak a little french and have travelled by car all over Europe and have never experienced such awkwardness. The parking lot was reached via an alley and some winding our way through a small dark streets and a shopping area and then going underground. We finally parked and were further shocked that we had to pay $$more than a just few bucks a day to park there. We were glad that we were not going to be there long (2 nites) So this was not the best arrival to say the least. We walked back to the hotel (about 6-7 mins) and were showed to our room which was also a disappointment because of the small size considering the price we were paying. The balcony was lovely but it was one of those rooms that you had to sort of squeeze yourself around the bed to get around the room. I made reservations based on the brochure and internet images and I felt the rooms depicted seemed much roomier. More on the parking. The first time we exited the parking lot we had to go to the security desk in the parking lot because they wanted to charge us more than the guests at La Perouse (about 50%less than normal) should pay. I got them to understand this and they gave me a pass so that I would not have to pay the regular price and would just use a special ticket in the entry machine to go in an out. However, everytime we tried to use the ticket (inserting it in the machine at the entrance) it didn't work and we had to hassle the security about it and since there was only one guy who spoke English, it wasn't easy and it was such a big hassle, we were almost glad to get out of Nice altogether. I think this and the fact that the room was so tiny left me feeling that this hotel was not so great for the premium we paid to stay there. Also, all the rave reviews on tripadvisor made me feel like this was going to be so wonderful....

Definitely will go back! Highly recommended!

Love this hotel!! We stayed here for 2 nights in the end of November 2003. We arrived much earlier, thinking we'd just leave our luggage there and check in later. The front desk person happily let us checked in right away at 8:30 am. Staff were all very pleasant, polite and particularly helpful. The breakfast was good. Very clean and room size was bigger than many European hotels. Awesome view of the Bay. Nice and special room decoration.Walking distance to old town shops and farmer's market. This hotel stay definitely added extra bonus to our Nice trip!

A Great Spring Break We were very surprised how wonderful the weather was for end Feb early March - it was warm enough to sit in a cafe on the beach in shirt sleeves and some were actually sunbathing.

Getting to your Hotel - go the easy way. Coming in by Air? Then get a taxi to your destination. The airport is at one end of the bay and is easy tto get to most places quickly by taxi. However, it's not the cheapest way to travel but by the far the most hassle free.

travel by rail There is a fantastic rail service out of Nice to Monte Carlo and beyond. Its very cheap so make the most of it and see somemore of the amazing South of France.
