Updated hotel with modern interior and nice bathroom ideally located in Nice with a charming view of the entire promenade. Friendly and accommodating staff. Excellent for family or business stay. The place to go for a long weekend.

Hotel Suisse - a fine place to stay

Just back from four wonderful days in Nice where we stayed at the Hotel Suisse.
It's location is wonderful as it overlooks the bay and is close to the centre of the town and to the port.
Our room faced the bay and the view was truly breath-taking. We had booked it on the internet and in terms of value for money it was unbeatable - we got the room (double-bed) at a rate of euro 67.00 per night (excluding taxes, which turned out to be less than a euro per person per day, and the breakfast)
The service was very good and the staff at the desk were most helpful and pleasant.
The down-sides were the noise level outside of the hotel, which was constant since the hotel is on the main road from the town to the port and is very busy, and the breakfast which at euro 15.00 per head was expensive for what was on offer; better value was to be had in the town.

Great views at perfect price

This hotel is in a wonderful location, and appears to have terrific views from every room. The price is right, rooms are clean and staff are friendly. We did not use any amenities or eat breakfast at the hotel as the price (15 euros) for breakfast seemed a bit excessive. Since so much is close by, however, it is not hard to find a good breakfast.

Perfect Location

Just back from 4 nights in Nice. This hotel is perfect. Just renovated, faces the beach, walking distance to everything. Only drawback is the street noise but it is outweighed by the incredible view of the Baie des Anges. Also 15euros per person for breakfast is too much. Go buy a croissant!

Great Hotel,Great Price

I have read reviews before staying here where everyone raves that it has the best view in Nice, well it does, I stayed on the top floor, spectacular. But there is more to it then just the view. The room seemed large after staying in Paris, its a good size, totally clean and modern, great size bathroom, I was really impressed, especially at this price, the lobby even has a wonderful view at the many tables and free wireless for your laptop as opposed to other places in Europe where I thought it was free wireless internet but you still have to pay. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Nice staff as well.

Great location

Just back from 4 nights at the Hotel Suisse and enjoyed it very much.

The room was a bit small, but it was clean and very comfortable. We had a balcony overlooking the entire promenade which was a perfect spot for breakfast every morning. We skipped the expensive hotel breakfast & picked up fresh bread & cheese in the Old City and Market which was very close.

The staff was cordial and helpful when necessary. Parking in Nice is outrageously expensive & difficult to find, so we settled for an underground garage that wasn't too far away.

The location was really perfect and I'd recommend the Suisse.

My husband and I took our daughter and her husband to Nice for 5 nights and stayed at this fantastic hotel. The views were gorgeous. Our room was on the 1st floor and although somewhat obstructed by trees and street lights, it still took my breath away. The view from the second floor room (our daughters) was really amazing. The rooms were roomy with tasteful decor, and a large and modern bathroom. Comfortable mattresses. A very safe and charming area. The hotel is close to everything. We rented a car and took day trips. There is a pay parking lot around the corner and it is very convienent, however most nights we found street parking for free. The service was great, staff was friendly, all in all it was a dream vacation.

good location in Old Nice

Definitely one of my favorite hotels during this vacation. Room was impeccably clean and with an amazing view that we were not expecting. Lady at front desk very friendly and helpful, the man working the front desk at other times not so much, but the rest of our experience made up for his unpleasantness.

Ahhh, the south of France, just the name conjurs up images of ban du soleil, the sparkling Cote d'Azur and fabulous people watching - especially for a girl from Minnesota. Nice has something to offer for everyone and every mood. It's a nice slice of France served up with cobblestone streets with darling boutiques, heavinly bakeries and cosmopolitan cuisine spilled out on sidewalk cafes. You can't help feeling a little French just being there! I was fortunate enough to find a wonderful hotel with great rates and even better views. This little bijou is the Hotel Suisse. It is smack dab on the Promenade des Anglais. For all you rookies out there, like me, that means right where you want to be - on the fabulous blue waters. Many of the rooms offer ocean views complete with balcony for your own private mini bar parties! The mini bars in these rooms offer wine for only 6 euro and the hotel is happy to run more up to your room if you run out! There is nothing like sitting on your own little thrown over looking Nice and reflecting on a fantastic day in France. I still pinch myself! The photos on Expedia do not do the Hotel Suisse justice. The photos are outdated. The hotel's breakfast area is done in beautiful pastels over looking the beach. Breakfast may or may not be included with your room. The breakfast was wonderful with a large assortment of pastries, fruit, meats, cheeses and eggs. There was also a funky hotel bar to grab a quick cocktail at night. The beaches are unique - not sand but small, grey, smooth, flat stones. Remember to bring some shoes to the beach, the stones are difficult to walk on in and out of the water. I saw some people trying to walk out of the water onto the beach that would have made a mime laugh! A walk along the Promenade des Anglais is a must at day and night. The day is filled with people rollerblading, biking and sunbathing and at night with lovers arm in arm and eclectic street musicians. There are also a lot of cute little beach restaurants to have lunch or a drink at dusk. For dinner I recommend strolling the many cafes that are about a block off the Promenade des Anglais on rue Saint Francois de Paule. Otherwise know as the famous Cours Saleya flower market by day. The restaurant "la Voglia" is an absolute must! It is tres chic inside and out. The menu is Italian with lots of salads, pasta, pizza and seafood options. The food was as beautiful to look at as it was to the taste buds! I recommend the antipasti misti, a huge selection of the freshest and most colorful seafood, olives and roasted vegetables. The portions are huge and very resonable about 10 - 15 euros. The waiters are also very cute! Don't forget the tiramisu for dessert. I suggest doing a little day trippin' while in Nice. Cannes and Monte Carlo are only a few miles away in either direction. Cannes has nice, sand beaches. I recommend splurging and getting an umbrella and lounge chair on a private beach for around 20 euro. You are in Cannes after all - you might as well feel like a movie star! A great place for lunch is Le Festival. It is right off the beach in the center of the hotel area. The food was so wonderful it would have mad Julia Child weep for joy. The boutiques behind the hotel lined beaches were wonderful and suprisingly reasonable. Yes you can shop in Cannes! Monte Carlo is another wonderful day trip just to say "you've been there". Take a gamble at the famous casino or just soak in the yachts in the marina. It's all good. Don't miss a stop to Villefrance-Sur-Mer. It is a beautiful town with gorgeous beaches, views and shops. Your last night in Nice, you should have a toast at the famous Hotel Negresco. If you can afford to have dinner there, I hear it's magnificent. Otherwise, at least have a drink at the famous bar for nostalgia's sake and toast your wonderful trip to France. Its no secret how Nice got it's name. Nice is really nice. We stayed at The Suisse hotel in Nice for 7 days - 18. to 25. July 2005.
The Suisse hotel was very nice with a great view. The room was in a very good condition and very clean. The staff was friendly and helpful.
The air conditioning was very good and it was relaxing to come back to the room after a rather hot stay at the beach.
We had a balcony and the view was breathtaking. The view over the whole bay of Nice was WONDERFUL.
We would definitely recommend the Hotel Suisse, we will certainly be going back!

Fantastic - Wonderful View

I stayed here in a sea facing twin room on the second floor in July. The room was very clean and along with the bathroom I assume it had been refurbished in the last two years. The air conditioning is superb!

We had a balcony and the view is breathtaking. I think this is the only hotel which has views over the whole bay and it is WONDERFUL.

The breakfast was 10 Euros and well worth the price to have it in your room on the balcony.

With superb English speaking staff the quality of this hotel is amazing for the price. I would definitely go back.

Top Local Tips for Nice

The Market The market is wonderful and is located very close to the Hotel Suisse in the Old Square, it has wonderful things,fresh olives, candy, seafood, beautiful fresh flowers, jewelry, paintngs and SO much more, I believe this takes place everyday and one of the days is only antiques!!

Old Nice shopping and food Old Nice was probably the best part, and a short walk from our hotel. Its buildings have a classic old Mediterranean style of architecture, and the cobblestone streets were filled with various food and crafts markets, outdoor cafes, and boutiques. The food in Nice was delicious, with a mix of Italian and French influences, featuring a lot of seafood and very fresh, flavorful ingredients. Our best meal was at Le Romarin, a restaurant located off of the main street of Cours Saleya, on Place Rossetti. We enjoyed eating a leisurely dinner there, on our last night in Nice, at our outdoor table under an overhang, as a storm passed through and poured down rain in the street next to us.

Parking Parking is extremely difficult in Nice, especially anywhere near the hotels. Parking on the road overnight may result in a ticket. You can park for 23 Euro for 24hrs in the underground parking for the marche des fleurs. Walking is your best option, unless you plan to drive up the coast and check it out, in which case I recommend renting a car the day before you leave, keeping it overnight and dropping it at the airport the next day. The parking cost is cheaper than taking a taxi and more convenient.
