Never have regrets in life

Review in Short:
This hotel left me feeling 'conned' as far as value for money goes (or lack of it). The Hermitage in Monte Carlo is 10 times the hotel @ only 5-10% more expense (granted it's 80 EURO and 20 minutes in a Taxi), but even the 2 Star Hotel 10 minutes walk away was equal in room standard (except the air con was slightly louder & it lacked a balcony) approx 500 EURO cheaper..
**My dissapoinment of the hotel has not left me regretting my trip to Nice, but next time I return I will not stay in this hotel (unless it is free, making it slightly better value for money than the 2 star)**
Review in Detail:
LOCATION
In my opinion perfect, 1st street adjacent to the prominade 60 seconds walk to the beach or to the 'new town' restaurants. A further 4 minutes walk to the 'old town'.
ROOM
Bed/Living Area -
Having stayed @ the Hotel Hermitage, Monte Carlo a month earlier you may think I am being unfair when I say that our room (415 on 4th floor) was worse than shabby, both in decor and furnishings. The air condition unit was not too noisy (& not too effective). The adjoining door to the next room meant that we would hear its occupants (whom were obviously very much in love) and their TV & Radio. The balcony was the one and only salvation (just large enough to squeeze 2 chairs on).
Bathroom-
The bathroom never had an extractor fan, or the bath a shower curtain and as a result towels & most other items in the room got wet.
THE STAFF
No thrills, No spills, No complaints - polite & courteous. Well done to them, suited me fine.
ACCOMMODATION:
'Delux Twin' between 22nd - 26th July @ a total cost of 917 EURO (room 869 + 5.5% tax + 4 for the little tin of jelly sweets I ate).
TRANSPORTATION:
Easyjet from Newcastle 6.30am flight, cost 162 EURO arriving into Nice @ 9.55am (they are 1hr ahead of us). Taxi from Airport to Hotel 25 EURO, taking 10 minutes (well worth the spend).
TIP (If you are brave enough):
If you are booking/booked this hotel by all means visit it, but before handing over your passport & credit card (they photocopy them) I would ask to be taken to your room 1st so that you know what you are getting for your hard earned cash. Besides there are hotels galore just seconds walk from this one.

The hotel does certianly not merit its 4 star rating, the rooms were shabby and the breakfast buffet below standard, however, very polite and friendly staff and the views were lovely (at a hidden charge of 30 euros per night). Also, at no time did the smallprint highlight that the private beach is ridiculously priced haveing paid 134 euros to lie on a sunlounger!! All in all OK. For such a cosmopolitan place the hotel was substandard

Fabulous location and my room on the 6 floor had a spectacular sea view. The breakfast room was attractive and the variety of foods available was good. The lobby is beautiful but hallways to rooms are dim and worn. Good value for such a great location and view.

Just returned from a weekend in Nice, stayed Fri/Sat nights at the Park Hotel - what a let down this place was! We paid for a deluxe sea view room and although the room was large with a walk in wardrobe, my god it was so shabby - The carpet was stained in places, the furniture was falling to pieces and the bedding smelt! The bathroom looked like it had recenlty been updated but the bedroom was awful. The saving grace was the view from the balcony over the med and the park opposite the hotel. Great Location and Views but not worth the £'s we paid - will stay at the Beau Rivage next time, views won't be as good but will be much better quality stay. If you wanna know anymore then please feel free to contact me.
Great Location - OK Accomodations - Beautiful View

Stayed 4 nights at the Boscolo Park in early June 2004. The location is incredible, and the Sea View room has a beautiful of the Meditarrenean and the adjacent park. For half the price of the Le Meridien it was an excellent deal (we paid $160/night), but the orange room while clean was very basic and somewhat worn. Although there is no restaurant, there are many, many dining establishments all around the hotel.

Who on earth decided this should be given a **** rating in current condition? Attractive lobby but everything else is in desperate need of a refurb! The building is very impressive and if given a faclift would look great?. Our room on the 2nd floor was massive with a sitting room, huge bedroom/bed & bathroom. High ceilings & large windows looking out to the sea but it was so shabby. the carpet was clean but worn out, the decoration was tired and the bathroom featured many cracked tiles. In it's day this must have been lovely but I resented paying such high rates for this! Check out the Beau Rivage that does look really good, recently refurbished, very stylish and well priced.

Just returned From the Boscola Park,I agree with all the reviews,Hotel is V.F.M. In a perfect setting for NIce & the surrounding area (use the local buses) Hotel is fine,we were allocated a sea view room,which was large,well equiped and cleaned to a high standard.Breakfasts (16 euros) were v/good

Location, Location, Location!!

Just spent the Easter Weekend at this Hotel, and it was a Fantastic Location in the Centre of Nice. It is centrally located for both the new and the old town, with Louis Vuitton just underneath the Hotel. We had a Sea front view, and were not expecting to to be as godd as it was. You dont need to spend more staying at any of the other Hotels that say they are on the Sea front...this Hotel is better value.

As a four star, this hotel is just right. Staff was more than accomodating. Location is superb.Although it could use an upgrade on wallpaper, and other minor details, the ups far exceed the downs. Great breakfast in a beautiful hall. Excellent views of the Med, but request it.

We had a wonderful stay. Our two balconies overlooked palm trees and the sea. The location so close to the Promenade and old Nice was ideal.
The three small grocers (selling fresh fruit, wine, water, ...) around the corner were especially convenient, and of course there were plenty of restaurants, patisseries, and shops right there. The room was large and the bathroom was nice. The carpeting and wallpaper were past their prime, however. A friend said her pricier room at Le Meridien wasn't nearly as nice. If you can get a good deal on a sea view, take it.

Top Local Tips for Nice
Bus Use the public bus for transportation within Nice and around Nice (to Monaco, Cannes, etc.)
Good nicoise cuisine at an affordable price For good local food check out Nissa Soca. You can eat an entire meal with drinks for less than 15 euros.
Fantastic location Nice has everything, great beach, sunshine, shops, nightlife and is near some of the most amazing places - the southern French Alps, the Italian coastline (including Monaco!) one side and the charm and glitz of St Tropez and Cannes the other. It is great for all ages, children, teenagers, young couples, older travellers. It's a fantastic place for a weekend break or for a longer stay.

The reason we did not give it a 10 rating was because the lighting was rather dim and we like to read in the evenings. We paid about £100 for the room and breakfast which we thought, given the quality and location, was excellent value.
