The Hotel Roosevelt is situated 5 minutes walk from the shopping and beach area in Nice. The renovated rooms are of good quality for the price and the staff are welcoming and helpful. A good choice and recommended.

Fantastic for a 3 star. Hotel is in a good location for everything Nice has to offer. Even though you are in the centre of Nice its pretty quite at night....I never sleep too well away from home but I did here for 6 nights. However you must get up for the breakfast its worth the 8 euros extra and its served till 10.30am. The Old Town in Nice is not too be missed.. we went there to eat most night. DONT just stay in Nice though the train service (station 10mins walk from hotel) is fantastic and its cheap & realiable (not like UK). There is a train that takes you up to the Alps for 11 euros return. The beach in Nice isnt the best ... get on the train and go to Villefranche sur mar for a couple of euros and it takes about 5 mins from Nice.. I have just come home and want to go back again very soon..

This hotel was fantastic, within walking distance of everything but very quiet late at night so you could get a decent sleep, beds very comfortable, I went with my husband, daughter of 9 and toddler, they provided a free travel cot, the room was of adequate size and very reasonably priced and the staff were first class, very polite and friendly.

Buffett breakfast set us up for the day, we had no problems with the maid service, the room was left spotless for us every day as we were out doing the many things Nice has to offer, I would definetley recommend this hotel, we will definetley go back again, this was our first trip to Nice and wow we loved it!! Make sure you visit the old town its fascinating!!

Good value hotel

This hotel is well located in Nice within an easy walk of the beach, shops, train station. Hotel reception is modern and clean. Staff are friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast is good value compared to cafes nearby offering similar. Rooms are clean and more than adequate. This is a good quality budget hotel in a good location. Would definitely stay there again and happy to recommend to others

Clean, quiet, and brilliantly situated, the Comfort Roosevelt was a good choice. It is a short walk to the coast, train station, tourist sights, and lots of restaurants. The hotel staff couldn't have been more helpful! They provided wonderful maps and assistance, and were among the most polite, professional, and good natured of any hotel staff I've encountered.

My room was good sized, though not spacious. The beautiful long windows opening to the street were a plus, and the room was quiet at night. There was a good clean shower and the air conditioning worked well. Internet is available.

I would recommend skipping the optional 8 euro breakfast and walking just south to a magnificent patiesserie or southeast to the morning farmers market for breakfast.

The only drawback of this hotel for me was the feeling that it was so American, and while there I wondered if a different hotel would have given me more local flavor. That said, the Roosevelt was very nice and I would definitely stay there again!

Very nice hotel

We had a huge, very nice corner room for $120/night in July. Staff was also very nice and helpful. Good location - close to all. Okay buffet breakfast.

Stayed there in June, 2004. Very friendly and knowledgable staff, decent sized room for the money, and perfect location in Nice. If you're not staying on the beach, this is the next best place, as it is in walking distance to just about everything. Nice bathrooms and the beds were surprisingly comfortable by European standards. Only complaint was with the maid service, as it took them forever to get around to cleaning the room. Breakfast was decent, but for 8 euro you can get something a lot better outside the hotel.

good value for money

Booked a triple room and was delighted on arrival. Staff were really friendly and helpful, location is fantasic and the room was actually two (separate) very clean rooms giving us lots of space! Had a wonderful time here for the first couple of days, but then.. returning home one night we saw a cockroach crawling out from under our bedroom door! (we were on the first floor, same floor as the kitchens). If you don't mind cockroaches it's an excellent hotel. But we slept with the lights on all night!

The hotel is very clean - all new fixtures and fittings. Nice bright rooms. Staff very friendly and helpful. It is within short walking distance of boutiques, the main shopping area, the sea, restaurants, parks and bars. Free road parking in the evening/night around the hotel, you just have to get up for 9 to get a ticket for the day. I would definitely stay there again as it suited our stop over.

Great budget hotel, 5 minutes to airport bus, supermarket and dozens of restaurants, 10 minutes to beach. Very helpful Receptionist with constant smile and flawless English, quick check-in. Nicely decorated room with a comfortable 4' bed (OK since I was staying on my own), air conditioning, kitchen-type table and chair, TV with 13 channels (including CNN and Eurosport), en-suite shower and toilet, hairdryer, combination safe, tea and coffee making facilities, telephone. Tall opening windows with safety grill. Street can be noisy but room is double-glazed. Only net curtains and street in brightly lit all night. Not much of a view from the window, but in Nice who stays in their room to look at the view?! Large buffet continental breakfast available for 8 Euros. Not luxurious but comfortable and highly recommended.

Excellent hotel - nice, good location and clean. Would definitely recommend to a friend or family looking for a place in Nice. 2 minutes from Rue Messena which is a street with tons of restaurants and shops. loved it and you can't beat the price!

Top Local Tips for Nice

Bus routes I could not get a map with bus-routes. At the tourist office they will give you the busroute of one specific bus. You might want to take the city tour first to get your bearings of Nice and environment But Nice is small enough to get around on foot But get a good street map at the Tourist Office.

Bus to Menton Get the bus to Menton, past Monaco along the coast....lovely views along the way and very cheap. The market in the old town of Menton is worth a visit - you're right on the border of Italy there! Coming back visit Monaco, the bus uses some of the road used in the Grand Prix!

Bus travel from airport Get bus 98 from airport, the bus goes along the sea front as soon as it leaves the sea front and turns in land get off at the next bus stop, cross the road and walk into the Piazza in fron of you, walk up there until you get to the Rue Marchel Goffre and turn left, Hotel is on right down there. Total walk about 400yds. If you get a cab from the bus stop it will have to take you all over the place to get there as there is massive road works going on for the introduction of a tram service. Many museums shut. Those that are not open from 2.30 -3pm till 6pm most days.
