Top Local Tips for Nice
Travelling around If you can, get a hotel near the centre of Nice near to the Old town market area it is very convenient for shops restaurants and the beach, have plenty of euros to use the tram / bus services. 4 euros gets you unlimited travel on the trams and buses each day you can buy "Carnets" for weekly use, getting around is very easy and there is a good service for both. Leaving the airport is so easy again the one day ticket can be purchased upon exit from the Airport terminals the busses Nuners 98 & 99 travel along The Prommende des Anglais to Place Massena (roughly centre of town near the fountains) then on to Gare Routieres which is the main bus terminus.(Approx 5 - 10 minutes walk from town square depending on fitness!) Taxis fom the airport to the centre of town are exhorbitant approx 25 euros for a 4 Km trip avoid them if you can. You can go to Monaco from the main train statio which yu can get to using the trams get off at Gare Thier its only 6 euros return to Monaco great value for money!

cours saleya the market area of nice is very busy in the evening with a couple of dozen restuarants side by side but the quality varies considerably from downright rubbish to excellent so choose carefully.
