We were a party of 8 which included 4 children aged 12, 12, 9 & 9. We enjoyed our stay as so convenient to ski out and back from hotel. The food was fantastic, varied each night and lots of choice for the kids. The staff could not do enough for us both at reception and in the restaurant/bar. Afternoon tea was plentiful and welcome every day! On the down side, the boot room was a nightmare - just not big enough to accommodate everyone or their equipment. The rooms were on the small side but clean and adequate if you didn't spend a lot of time in them. On the whole I would recommend the hotel to families and would go back.

We had a great holiday at Le Viking and would certainly go back. The staff were very friendly and helpful although the service could have been quicker! The food was good although I wasn't impressed with the childrens menu as my youngest daughter is a nuggets and chips girl. I found the Ski locker room far to small, the rooms were basic but clean, but it was difficult to dry clothes as there was no place to hang them. Unfortunately we couldn't use the pyjama club as it was full, so I would advise booking in advance. All in all I would certainly go back and look forward to my next stay.

Fantastic location for skiing with wonderful childcare delivered by admittedly young but capable staff. Much more an hotel for families with youngish kids as pretty basic rooms etc. and not really a place to get away from children during the day or the evening. Food ok and varied. Rather over ambitious childrens menu - nuggets, chips etc. would have been easier if not as healthy. Some of the hotel needs some cosmetic work as looking a bit tired and a little grubby. Ski kit room too small. I have already re-booked with my friends and their 10 kids and will again until kids old enough to stay in a chalet.

The location is fab but hotel needs management overhaul!

The hotel was dirty. Mold in the bedroom and it hadn't been cleaned from the week before, cornflakes, a belly button ring, and an old sock, not to mention the general dirt and dust. Complained to duty manager, vacated the room for the day as he said he would clean it, he didn't. Next day looked for the rep but found the hotel manager and he looked at it, apologised for duty manager, and said he would give the room a deep clean. He didn't. On both days my partner was ill (stomach) and we spent most of the time sitting in the bar area because we thought they were sorting the room. Room was eventually cleaned but only after 3 days of complaining (speaking to two managers, two reps, and two members of cleaning staff) and eventually losing our patience. Getting an official complaint form from Rep was also hard work, again had to request several times. Staff lacked direction and were not fully trained or motivated to deliver any customer service they were more interested in clocking on and off. One of two fire exits on floor three was locked. This was because it was used by staff to go up and down to their living quarters and could be very noisy in early morning. Food was good but general cleanliness in dining area was not. Cups dirty and plates greasy. Lack of tablecloths due to broken driers (second week in ski season). Pool was cold for 3 out of 7 days. I could go on and on as this was definitely our holiday from hell. Despite being on numerous holidays (4 on average a year) this is the first time had to complain and when we did it only added to the frustration. There was a general lack of care/concern for customers.

We have just returned from a week at Le Viking. We have 2 children - 6 and 22 months. We couldn't fault the childcare in the hotel and the staff were always on hand and very friendly and helpful. The location of Le Viking is fantastic - skiing right from your door! The terrace outside the hotel was a lovely place to sit at lunchtime and watch the children playing in the snow. It helped that the weather was fantastic for the week we were there, although the snow was beginning to melt on the lower slopes. I would definitely go back there as it was such a wonderful place.

We stayed at Le Viking and had a great stay. The Hotel is in a great location with easy access to the piste. The food was very good, and if you didn't like something they would happily get you something else. The only downfall is the room size and storage facilities. Very little space for hanging clothes such as coats and ski wear. Also better design of the wardrobe area would have helped. The childcare, Wizkids were very good. Finally there is great sledging to be done just outside the hotel entrance. The Kids and adults loved it!

I visited 'Le Viking' on 6th January 2007, and i thoroughly enjoyed my week. I went in a group of 10 adults and 11 children... The hotel its self was situated halfway up a slope, which was ideal for the members in my group who where trying to get to ski-school, as last year we had to walk 1/2 mile which was hurrendously stressfull for the parents of those who would moan, and refuse to carry their skis! Being 15, i was the eldest child in my group, but i hoped to make friends with other guests in the hotel my age, but there wasnt which was a bit disappointing for me. it turned out that my family were much better company for me than i expected!! The pool was absolutely freezing, as the heater was broken and apparently had also been broken the previous week. This was no problem for us though, as all of the children (and the few adults who actually went in) found the cold water refreshing after a hard day of skiing! I creeped into the sauna with my mum – it was lovely and warmly refreshing! The only downside there was, was that our hot water would not work after about 5:30 pm - luckily my mum and dad's room on the same floor was working, so my family of 5 would take turns. It was a laugh! The evening tea (i dont know what it was called) was lovely and refreshing after a hard day of skiing - there is no bread nicer than french bread! The cake often ran out before i got to it - although i didnt mind - i was happy enough with a french stick and lump of butter! The breakfust was plentyful, and the evening meals were delicious – I always looked forward to reading the menu! The resort was absolutely amazing - we only actually did ski at morzine for 2 days, as the snow quikly melted with the alltime high temperatures. This was not a nuisance though, as it only took 20 minutes to get over to avoriaz, and we could see how amazing the runs would be if they were covered in snow! I suppose avoriaz was pretty buzy, but my group did not really mind - we were just thankful that we didn't have to travel in a bus for an hour everyday to get to snow! The reps could not have been more helpful. I witnessed that ‘WhizzKidz’ was an excellent creche, run by lovely people. The staff were absolutely amazing - always asking wether i had had a good day, etc especially ELLIE (who managed to keep the un-controlable children within my group under control) and MARC HOWAY (who i was great company, and I was always delighted to talk to). I didnt really get to know anymore staff very well, but they all seemed pleasant and polite - and there were also a few fit boys i could look at!! The boot room was absolutely tiny, considering there were 220 (?) people staying in the hotel. We learned not to get stuck in the ski-school rush hour, and after that we were fine for the rest of the week – often taking our ski gear up to out rooms. The evening entertainment was brilliant - snowzone at 8pm for the kids, and then a quiz followed on by a disco each night. Cheeky Charlie and Ian were lovely and entertaining! On the last morning, my two sisters and i were up at 5am. We watched our luggage be taken down to the lift by fit boys on jet skis (aka, Luke!!). We were the only people down in the restaurant for atleast ¾ hour, but we were happy enough talking to Sarah* who was awfully friendly. I didn’t know who the manager was until the last 10 minutes of my stay, when he walked my group and I down the slippy ice, to the lift we were to get on (this was very nice of him to do so). I loved every minute of my stay at Le Viking, and I am now forever begging my parents to book for next year!!

We have just returned from a week at the Viking and thoroughly enjoyed it. Shame about the lack of snow although we managed to ski every day at Avoriez. Rooms are basic but clean and the staff really can't do enough for you especially Mark, Porche,Haley and Charlotte - lovely people - well done guys. The food was excellent - great choice every day and the 4 o clock tea and cakes were really appreciated. The pool was out of action however was repaired as soon as possible. Great views, do go for a girly night on the town and try the 'Mutzi' - we will be back.

How anyone can give this hotel a decent rating is beond me. The place is dirty throughout. The rooms are very basic, the bed linen threadbare and the bathrooms have mould around the sink and bath. It took several requests before our room was cleaned and no matress liners were on any beds. The food was a joke.... and the staff were more interested in enjoying themselves than helping anyone. Glasses, cutlery and plates were constantly grimy. The location is great but thats about it.... BEWARE LE VIKING!!!!!!!
