The views from this hotel are stunning - as if you were on a mountain lookout post. Be sure to bring binoculars - I didn't and regretted it. We went in the summer when the skiers are replaced to some extent by the mountain bikers. The hotel is a terrific base for a walking holiday - there are several ski lifts in operation which allow walkers to get up some height very quickly. The hotel service and food is great. More than one receptionist speaks English and the restaurant staff will all try happily to communicate with those, like me, who can speak a little French only. The pool and sauna are fine. So, what's wrong with it then? We went on a Thomson Lakes and Mountains package tour and we were not told until our arrival that we had to buy tickets for the ski lift which was the hotel's only access from the the village of Morzine (unless you had a good 4x4!). It surprised us that neither Thomson's nor, more surprisingly the hotel, had a connection with the ski lift. In retrospect we should have checked this in advance but we assumed, as did other guests we spoke to, that the hotel residents would be given a ski lift pass. Because we wanted to walk in the mountains and planned to use other ski lifts, we found that the cheaper option was to buy a six-day Portes du Soleil pass @ 56 Euros. A one-way trip on the ski lift to the hotel costs 4 Euros. Thomson's paid for the journey up when we arrived and the journey down when we left. But don't let the ski lift costs put you off - just budget it in and enjoy the location. We'll be going back!

The staff were eager to please and always cheerful. All spoke perfect English.
The rooms, very basic, but clean. I'd compare it to an average Holiday Inn style room. Unless you intend to spend your days in the room, it was more than sufficient.
We went with 2 kids (1.5 yo and 3 yo) and it had fantastic nanny service in the same building. Dinner for kids was at 5 pm, followed by Disco night which was such a hit with the little ones and the PJ club meant that my husband and I could have a quiet meal together (7pm) while the kids had fun with other kids. The only down side is the kids ski school was at the bottom of the mountain, so in the morning, you'd have to take the kids down the mountain, but it's not a big deal. Unless you have private ski lessons, it's only 1 minute walk away, which is what I'd recommend.
Food was pretty good, it's not Gordon Ramsay, but it's pretty decent 3 course dinner and a hearty hot breakfast. Plus afternoon tea and kids dinner (so you'll never go hungry).
Swimming pool was a bit coldish - but the older kids seem to love it. It was refreshing after a long day of skiing.
The only down side was that the Crystal ski hire place wasn't at the hotel itself. You'd have to take the cable car down the mountain and walk about 10 minutes. So I would suggest NOT to get ski gear from crystal and get it yourself when you get there as every other shop is a ski hire shop, and it's all much closer to the cable cars.
Overall, I'd recommend this to anyone with young kids. It's a real no brainer. Everything was pretty much provided for - even the milk, which I had to ask for 3 times a day. And they would even happily heat it up for you.
Super accommodation, staff and holiday. Can't wait to go again!
