We stayed at the Alp hotel for a week over New Year 06/07. There were 8 people in our group (aged 21-29). The staff at the Alp hotel were lovely and made our stay a very relaxing one. They were very helpful in sorting out a mix up we'd had with our taxis and always cheerful and friendly. The rooms were comfortable and clean although 2 friends (both over 6 foot tall) did end up with a 1/2 size bath and no shower! The food was excellent with a 5-course dinner every night and an extra special New Year's dinner. Breakfast was simple with bread and croissants. The location of the hotel was excellent for the Rochebrune chair lift (about 2 minute walk). It was about 5 minute walk to the town but this was good after a 5-course dinner to walk off a few calories! Megeve is a beautiful resort with picturesque streets and shops. I cannot really comment on the skiing as it has not snowed for a month when we went and we were only on the green runs that had snow cannons on them. There seemed like plenty of runs for all abilities though. The nightlife was quite limited but we did find a couple of nice bars and cargo club was good fun on New Years Eve. I would probably stay at the Alp hotel again if I went back to Megeve although as everything about the resort was so expensive I doubt I'll get back!!
