Great location close to old town, all attractions and local transport inc. Eurostar station (walkable with trolley suitcases even for us 70+ yr.olds). Plenty of shops for those who want them. A very comfortable, well run hotel. Lovely room and bathroom. Very professional and congenial staff. We would not think of staying anywhere else on a future visit.

Fabulous hotel. Very quaint and unusual. Fabulous lift and rooms very good. Breakfast not briliant but in the heart of Lille so other options available and probably preferable. Well worth a stay. We will be going back again this year for a leisure break even though we first stayed on business.

Top Local Tips for Lille

Sunday and Monday closing and Smoking. Many restaurants close on Sunday and Monday evenings and if you want to eat out on either of those nights it is a good idea to confirm beforehand that the restaurant of your choice will be open. We didn't and ended up having the worst meal of our whole trip on a Monday, our last night. Smoking in restaurants and public places was banned by the French Government as from February 2007. However -- Restaurants etc are being "given" until 2008 to adjust!! Some places decided to implement the ban immediately and this is normally displayed prominently at the entrance. But if a smoke free eating environment is importnat to you check before ordering. The ban does not seem to be reducing the number of smokers and terrace dining can still be ruined by other peoples smoke.

Great restaurant We went to Le Barbue d'Anvers and the food, wine and atmosphere were fantastic. Dinner for two was €100. Also tried Le Sebastapol, "grown up" michelin star restaurant which was lovely.
