Japanese food Lille has suffered significant influence from the Belgian culture, and a lot of its food is mundane lumps of meat and other Germanic fayre. Take advantage instead of its large Japanese community, and enjoy some of the excellent sushi, sashimi and noodles on offer further out of the centre of town.

Great Variety he centre of Lille is full of all types and nationalities of restaurants. North African cuisine near the station, Cinese nearby and also fast foof and local specialities

Cab ride Not knowing where we were going we jumped into a cab which was a very short trip from station to hotel cost us seven euros but our friends who we were with were charged nine euros once we got our bearings the hotel is walking distance from the hotel. There is a really good market on Sundays which has everything you could think of and if you have young children, there is a really good park with a zoo which is for free.What I did find annoying, we wanted to visit the Natural History Museum and a tower which was attached to a hotel you could walk up the 104 steps to the top, but when we got to the Museum it was closed for building works then we went to the tower but was told you have to book through the Tourist Information office. Make sure you go to the Tourist Information first before visiting anything.
