Lovely small hotel, but seriously good food

Stayed at this hotel 3 nights, bed, brekfast & evening meal via VFB. Warm, welcoming small hotel, pine clad and very tastefully decorated. Owners are pleasant. But the food! A revelation. In the summer, evening meals consist of small courses, beautifully presented and very tasty. The result is a filling meal of great variety. Views of Mont Blanc (from the Italian side) and the valley of Beaufort and Arreche leading up to Grand Mont make for fantastic views from the verrandah at breakfast (or any other time). Quiet in June but obviously more busy in July & August, and apparently very popular in winter.

Top Local Tips for Les Saisies

SatNav SatNav is probably the most useful thing that you can take with you if you're renting a car to drive around the Alps. I downloaded the maps from TomTom's website and the level of accuracy is amazing. Watch out though because sometimes it routes you on little tracks that you couldn't even call roads. If it tries that, stick to the main road and wait for it to recalculate the route, otherwise you could find yourself driving off the edge of a very steep mountain!

Aguille du Midi From Chamonix take the cable car up to the sumit at over 12,000 feet. With spectacular views of Mont Blanc you will feel like you're on top of the world! Wrap up warm though, as it can be as cold as minus 10 degrees at the top, even when it is in the 30's down in the village. Also at 37€ return per person its not cheap, but worth every penny (or cent!).
