Top Local Tips for Les Gets
When to go Les Gets is a beautiful ski area and part of the portes du soleil whihc offers the most expansive ski area in Europe. It is best for beginners and intermediate families wanting pictoresque skiing and skiers wanting a short 1 hour transfer from Geneve. The resort offers good apres ski and lots of cafes and shopping. Snow can be thin and unreliable after April 15th but the back up of Avoriaz ensures some of the best conditions for the rest of the season in the Northern Alps. Do not travel before the Dec 16th to be sure of the best snow. However Les Gets does have some of the best cannon coverage in the alps - so there is always good cover available.
Les Gets as a Skiing Resort Les Gets is a nice resort for skiing holidays. However, it is a low resort so lack of snow can be a problem. You can ski into Morzine and if you can be bothered to walk across the resort of Morzine to the other chair lift you can then access Avoriaz which is higher. The skiing in all three areas (Les Gets, Morzine and Avoriaz) is extensive and good. Unfortunately you have to pay for a bus between Les Gets and Morzine but there is a free bus between Morzine and Avoriaz.
