My wife and I stayed at this hotel last week.Found it by default
as we first looked in the town of Bellac a few miles south.

La Dorat is only a small village and our first impression of the
hotel was good. It is only a one star hotel and doesn't pretend to
be anything else but it really is a gem.

Don't bother considering going there if you do not speak any French.
I have enough to get me through but the host ensured that I understood
everything that he said and was most friendly as was his wife and
the waitress in the restaurant.

The room was all you could expect for the money.

The evening meal at about 24 euros per head was outstanding.

Thoroughly recommend this hotel if you can turn a blind eye to
the bedroom which was clean but in dire need of an update.
