Top Local Tips for La Cadiered'Azur
Parking When you arrive dont worry about blocking the street with your vehicle whilst you unload. No one worries and you won't get hassled. Same applies when you leave so dont lug cases from or to the car park.
Watch Out for the Staircase Similar to many old inns in Europe, Hostellerie Berard has a spiral staircase with very small steps closest to the railing. In order to reduce risk of tripping, you must walk on the larger outside that has no railing. To top it off, the staircase was not well (or at all) lit after dark. It would never pass safety inspections in the US!!
The Hostellerie Berard It touts its 1 Star Michelin, don't do it go to McDonald's instead, not worth the money nor the chance of getting sick. I asked for butter for my bread at dinner and was told they did not have any. The next morning they had plenty of butter for breakfast. The service was not good. Dinner was lack luster the wine was excellent (of course we chose it and paid for it) and the dessert was good. Everything else definatley not 1 Star Michelin. The Hotel just a standard 3 star hotel in France nothing to rave about HOWEVER The SPA THAT WAS EXCELLENT To bad my husband got food poisoning from eating at the restaurant so we could not take advantage of our prepaid package which we lost. If you want a spa absolutely, but dont stay there and dont eat at the restaurant either.
