My wife and I stayed at this hotel on the main drag in Collioure for one night. Based on the reviews on this site, we called on a Sunday for a reservation on Tuesday. This is the only hotel I contacted in Collioure for that evening. We were offered a room with a view of the sea for 2 people under our 100 Euros per night limit. For 95 Euros (more on this later…) a night we were quite surprised at the mediocrity of the room. I guess you pay for the view more than the room, which had a musty smell, cheap and rundown furniture, thin stained mattresses (the room was not cleaned and stripped of all linens when they gave us the keys), bare of any embellishments and a questionably clean bathroom. For that price we were quite taken aback but took it in stride as we knew it was a touristy hotel on the main drag of a touristy town in August. This room without the view is a 40 Euros room in any other place. As long as you understand this, you will not be disappointed as we were by the room alone. What really spoiled our stay was the next day when we proceeded to check out and the management nonchalantly changed the price of our room from the 95 Euros they quoted us over the phone, to 135 Euros. Since we booked the room directly with the hotel over the phone not even two days before arrival, they did not offer to send an email or fax confirmation, nor did we request one (live and learn). The hotel owner and manager, a woman with a Scottish accent, was totally uncooperative in resolving the problem. She was rude and walked out on us several times during the argument, leaving us with a poor hotel employee unable to do anything without her consent. She told me she had no rooms at 95 Euros until I pointed out that the rate listed for a high season room on the wall behind her read: 95 Euros among others. At that point, she told me the room they gave us was a higher quality room and the 95 Euros rate did not apply… It is clear that repeat customers and customer satisfaction is not their priority. Whether this is a trick they pull on phone customers that don’t request a written confirmation, I do not know. However her attitude throughout the whole incident did not appear to be sincere and her demeanor was discourteous and hostile. This hotel is not worth the risk of facing this kind of treatment.
