Top Local Tips for Chamonix Mont Blanc

Munchies We found, by chance, a little restaurant called Munchies down a side street (Rue des Mollins). It is probably a bit grubby in the daylight, but by night it has a great atmosphere. All the tables are way too close together and therefore strangers join your conversations, but it makes for a fun place. The food was just amazing, beautifully presented and deliciously flavoursome. I could have had any number of things from the menu but we shared sushi, beef satay, beef filo rolls, pork medallions in a Nori sauce, duck breast in something wow, saki jelly and choc goo cake with ice cream. It felt like a sharing kind of place. I guess you would call it a Japanese-inspired-western fusion, whatever, it was fantastic. Swedish run (apparently) with friendly helpful staff . Good value for money and we came away talking about the experience. We tried to get in a second time, but it was fully booked. Thoroughly recommend, they deliver exactly what they entice.

paragliding You will see paragliders soaring above Chamonix (they call it parapenting but I don't know the difference). It is very accessible by going "tandem" and one of the best experiences I have every had. It's very safe (the instructor even let me steer) and you have to suspend your disbelief as you soar 1,200 metres above Chamonix. I would definitely recomend you have a go.
