Top Local Tips for Chamonix Mont Blanc

L:ocation of Hotel This hotel is located in Les Bossons which is just outside of Chamonix and away from all of the touristy areas. However, it is very simple to drive into Chamonix in five minutes for the ride on the lifts, shopping and restaurants. Hotel has beautiful grounds just made for relaxing, plus a heated pool.

Aiguille du Midi thin air - bewarned If you have any cardiac or pulmonary issues, be aware if choosing the Aiguille du Midi cable car. You will be lifted 10,000 vertical feet to an elevation over 12,000 feet above sea level, all in about 20 minutes. People often feel light-headed or woozy at that altitude. WALK SLOWLY at the summit station ESPECIALLY when CLIMBING STAIRS. You'll acclimatize in about 45 minutes to one hour. After that, you'll feel a little bit better. While the valley was 22 degrees C, (74 degrees F) the Aiguille du Midi was +1 degrees C (33 degrees F) at 12:30 PM on a sunny day in mid August! SO, DRESS ACCORDINGLY and plan for COLD WEATHER at the AIGUILLE du MIDI terminal station.

Mont Blanc pass Make sure you buy a Mont Blanc pass to get up the mountains and ask at your hotel reception for a local travel card for local busses and trains.
