Top Local Tips for Cannes

Getting to Cannes and beyond From Nice airport I was told to catch a bus to Nice Station and then a train to Cannes. After travelling by rail in the area, it is possible to go to/from Cannes and get off at St Augustin Station just outside Nice. You can see the airport from the station. Head towards the Novotel. It is a 15/20 minute walk into Terminal 1 and from there you can get a free bus to Terminal 2 if required. This saves time and money. There is a bus from the airport which drops you off in Cannes near the port, but it is far more expensive than the train. You can purchase tickets from machines in stations, instructions are in English... EASY! If you want to go to St Tropez, catch the Cote D`Azur boat from Cannes port (Reservations required) Boat leaves at 1030 and returns at 1745, giving you about 4 hours in St Tropez. Cannes is a nice walking city, particularly around the Old Town and Port ....get out and explore, it is well worth the effort. Monte Carlo is easily reached by train from Cannes

Getting there from the airport I would recommend getting the number 210 from just outside the airport terminal (and not the 200). Cost was about 14 euros each but it went direct to the bus station in the centre of cannes and only took 25 - 30 minutes. the bus leaves about every half an hour and is very punctual. Make sure to buy your ticket from the ticket office outside the terminal buliding and on the way back to the airport you have to buy it on the bus from the driver.
