A gorgeous little place overlooking the town gardens. Very quiet at night but close to town, station and main roads. Beautiful, clean rooms and very nice breakfasts. Staff is very friendly and helpful too. Will definitely stay there again.

We found it by chance many years ago and look forward to staying again, once or twice a year. Quiet but close to the centre, town hall, railway station, place d'armes on the corner of the rue royale. Clean, inexpensive and some improvement made every visit. Be sure to put your car in the yard if possible.

Top Local Tips for Calais

Police Drive extra carefully as you approach the Channel Tunnel. I along with another British Tourist was stopped on the last toll gate on the A16 E402. They said I'd driven at 150 km which was totally absurd. Due to the obvious language problem an instant fine of 45€ and you make the train. I suspect this is a favorite pastime for the local Police. The only evidence I was provided with was a scarp of paper with the vehicle registration and 150 km written there. I thought it was a cheap trick.

CONVENIENT LOCATION This hotel is withing walking distance of the main centre of Calais, and appears to be pedestrianised in the early evening.

Calais shopping It is easy and well signposted if you are going to do a bit of shopping and stocking up, however if you want to buy cigarettes you need to go into a Tabac store which many are located along the main roads as the major shopping centres do not sell cigarettes.
