Good location in calais...nice view of the market square below. Our room was a bit on the smelly side however it was reasonably clean. (smelled of smoke, possibly becasue of smoking guests, more effort should perhaps of been made by the management to ensure the room remained smoke free.) room could do with re decorating. Bathroom also has a nice view.(no curtain on bathroom window!) corridors were badly decorated and smelt stuffy. overall fairly cheap, ideal for a small budget. Satisfactory hotel.

The hotel overall was not a bad place to stay in Calais and we definately have lots of stories to tell. Each room smelt a little different to the last. Some good, some bad and some just plain odd. Our room smelt a bit smoky but the beds were pretty comfy and all in all a pleasent place to sleep. We had a room on the first floor and unfortunately we had no curtian on the bathroom window. Basically we had a lovely view of the square but the square also had a lovely view of us. We personally found it funny, however as the window is full length, some may find showering a worrying experience. The hotel is in need of a refurbishment and possibly a bit more variety on the breakfast. Theres a nice shop about 100 yards away where you can pick up a bottle of wine for around 80p. The staff were also very friendly and took a particular shine to myself and always started conversations with me.

We stayed here on a whim. We arrived at about 11pm on a Sunday night and stayed here as opposed to an F1. We got a kick out of the old rotary phone, the crazy shower, and the funky decor. The only complaint we have is that it was really loud on the alley side (I wish I'd asked for a street view). I don't know if that's their fault, though, as they can't stop the street cleaning and garbage trucks. Plus, we should have noticed tha the window was open! Oops! All in all a cheap stay for 50 Euros and a great story to tell!

The Bel Azur in Calais clearly is the worst hotel me and my girlfriend have stayed in! No jokes! First of all, on our arrival, although I had not only called to book the room but also called again to confirm our booking, the room wasn't booked!! Then we went to our proposed room and it stank of smoke, so we asked to change. Unfortunately, the new room reeked of mold and we couln't change anymore as we were told the hotel was fully booked! So we stayed there. When we went to bed, we could hear the music coming from a nearby club!!! The music lasted til 5AM... The corridors were extremely dirty. The lift stopped between floors. The bathroom was disguting with holes and broken stuff in every angles. After showering, we realized the water was leaking onto the room floor (which kind of explained the smell!!!). This is clearly a cheap and CRAP hotel which has no respect for their clients at all! (The few other hotels we tried to check in were also fully booked, so we had to spend the night there... What a night!)

Wanted a cheap stop over in Calais but wished we had gone to a go b&b or f1 as this place was very run down, no hot water or adequate heating in the room probably the worst room we have stayed in and I am taking into account the price. The only plus point was it was very convenient for night life (get a bus instead)

Good position overlooking the Place d'Armes, but only if you request a balcony room. Our second stay, value for money,(€48 per room, €5 for secure garage)reception and bar area very clean and tidy, staff polite, helpful & English speaking. However, rooms and bathrooms are long overdue a refurbishment. No showers in our rooms, only baths, and no control over radiator in bedroom, which was on! Bearing in mind we would only use this hotel for a stop over or booze cruise, we would certainly use it again mainly due to the location and value.
