We arranged a family party to celebrate various family anniversaries in one weekend and chose Le Dauphin. It was superb, they made a private room available for us, served wonderful food, made a 18th birthday cake for our grandson and generally made the weekend special. We have been before this trip and have always had excellent service It is worth going to Caen just to get Stefan's food!

Top Local Tips for Caen

It's a nice place Reading travel books, Caen sounded like somewhere to avoid. It just suited our travel plans. And we're glad it did. We didn't get much time to look around, but it seems a really nice place. We would loved to have stayed on. We didn't take any maps with us or ask for advide on where to go and seemed to wander in shopping areas rather than eating areas. However, we did find a street with quite a few restaurants and chose a Chinese. We'd had one good and 2 rather unusual experinces in Chinese restaurants at this stage of our trip. This night was definitely another good one! The food was good, the place was nice - small but nice. We had a lovely evening. The only annoying note was the lady who got a fit of the giggles and left and returned and got another fit of laughing and left again - this repeated 3 or 4 times. My husband was highly amused by it, as were most of the other diners - it just annoyed me
