Top Local Tips for Bordeaux

Be careful of your expenses... Drinks are expensive. It cost me 13 euros for two pints of lager. The euro was only at 1.1 to GBP so this worked out very costly. The taxi from the airport to the hotel also cost us 55 euros... yes, you heard me correctly.

Wine Touring Now granted Bordeaux has some of the best wines in the world, but touring can be a real pain if you dont have a car. There is not a whole lot to do in Bordeaux City anyways. There is a waterfront but Geneva's is better. There are churches and monuments but what large European city does not have these as well? If you are here, then I hope you came for the wine. You might consider staying in the Medoc or Saint Emillion. Several wineries have guest houses. If you dont have a car, you need to book your wine tours through the Bordeaux Tourism Bueau well in advance. They fill up quick. I was able to do a medoc tour by being on standby - so alll is not lost if you couldnt make the list, just go to the bureau (its by the grand theatre) and tell them you would like to be put on standby. The bigger your group the harder this is though. I contacted several private tour companies (there arent many). Gourmet Touring is very professional (but bargain on about 500 a day),
