This little hotel was perfectly located. Room was clean, comfortable, and tastefully decorated. Staff spoke English and was very helpful. A great value.

POOR service! Never go back!

Location, price and decor are all excellent!
But service is unbelievably POOR! They cant fulfill your simple wish like borrowing a plate. I will never ever go back to this hotel. There are plenty of decent 2 star hotels in Avignon. I believe that the nice staff in tourist information centre muust be able to sort it out for you.

Good stay at Colbert

We stayed 2 nights at Hotel Colbert, very good price/quality. Hotel is well situated, few minutes walk from train station and Palais des Papes. Rooms with good bed, shower and air conditioning (most of 2 stars hotels in Avignon don't have air conditioning and you'll really need it in the summer). We'll definetly stay at Hotel Colbert again when we go back to Avignon!

Top Local Tips for Avignon

To & from the airport Avignon airport is some distance from the town and there are no buses and few taxis: either take the number of a local taxi firm or be prepared to wait. The TGV station is much better served with 3-4 buses an hour.

Try the gratin dishes Apparently it's a specialty there and some restaurants serve it (I didn't find it at any of the restaurants in the main square, but if you walk away from the square towards the river, you'll find a side street that has some more Provencial restaurants who have this specialty). The one we went to has a Prix Fixe that serves an appetizer, entree (in the form of gratin potatoes or vegetabes baked with fish or meat in your own iron casserole dish), and dessert.
