Wonderful

What a fantastic place - we stayed here for five nights in August 2004 and had a marvelous time. The place was so beautiful, I couldn't believe we were actually staying there. Every need was met by the hosts - including fantastic restaurant recommendations. They made our Loire Valley holiday perfect.

We spent our last 2 nights in France at this charming Manoir. It has the charm and ambience of the French countryside with "5-star executive" service and amenities. M. Longet and his staff were extremely helpful. A delightful experience!

This hotel has to be the best in France (and probably in the world!). Everything was so perfect. The hotel has been renovated to exceptional standards and I cannot think of anything to fault. The service was 1st class, even down to the card left on the bed at night with the weather forecast for the following day! I would recommend Le Manoir les Minimes to everyone. You have to go there and see for yourself.

We LOVED this place! The room was beautiful, with a really big tub which my daughter had a blast in. Great views of the river, excellent turn-down service, etc etc. Can't say enough about the place. We had a lot of luggage and a 2-year-old; the lady at the front desk lugged a suitcase, then our child, up 2 flights of stairs! Great place!!

We stayed at Le Manoir May 28 - June 1, 2004. I have to say that we made a goode choice. This was our home base as we explored the Loire Valley chateaux, east of Tours. We stayed in the "deluxe pavillion room" (pictured on their website) and not in the actual Manor. I frankly chose this room becuase it was cheaper. The room was huge, furnishings fairly new, and bathroom clean and new. It had both a big tub and stand-up shower, which had 8 shower heads. The breakfast in the morning was 11E - your standard French breakfast - the food itself was not worth it, but the staff was very friendly and the setting was gorgeous. As an alternative, just walk up the street and go to Bigot chocolatier for a coissant and some great hot chocolate!!! One other piece of advise is that I would make is to NOT stay in Tours if you are exploring the chateaux, becuase you'll be disappointed. Amboise is much more quaint, the people friendlier. We were able to see 8 chateaux plus several other sites in 4 days.

Le Manoir is a GEM!! Stayed 3 nights end of May, 2004. In the shadow of the Amboise castle, the accomodations are warm and welcoming, the staff, very gracious and helpful. Walking distance to the town and the castle, nearby Clos de Luce, home of Leonardo DaVinci. The staff made great suggestions for wonderful restaurants, noteably Le Bon Laboreux in Chenonceaux and Aubinere. Great value, wonderful accomodations and location for visiting the beautiful Loire Valley.

My Mom and I went to France in March, 2004 and spent 6 glorious nights at Le Manoir les Minimes...using it as a central base from which to explore the chateaux and the flea markets of the area. It was just wonderful!! Not only were our rooms scrumptous in every way, but we were made to feel so very welcome by the owners and staff. They showed us the pre/post renovation photo album, assisted with restaurant recommendations and suggestions of "what to do today." What makes Minimes so wonderful is not the luxurious accomodations, because frankly you have many choices if that is your goal... what make Minimes so very special are the owners and staff who truly make you feel welcome...not just like some anonymous guest. We have stayed at some lovely places in our travels around the world. Minimes tops the list...by a long shot.

We stayed at Le Manoir les Minimes April 13-15, 2004 and it was wonderful. Very luxurious and romantic setting overlooking both the Loire river and the Amboise Castle. The staff was friendly and spoke great english. We will definitely stay there again.

We stayed at Le Manoir Les Minimes last July 2003. The Manoir has been kept up beautifully. Our king bedded room was large and inviting, with a view of the Amboise bridge and River Loire. The town of Amboise is an easy walk from Le Manoir. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful with directions to the chateaux and suggestions for restaurants within walking distance. Le Manoir was a perfect place to stay for exploring the chateaux area. We stayed 4 nights, visited 5 chateaux, ate 4 wonderful dinners suggested by Le Manoir staff. We ate continental breakfast at Le Manoir one morning, which was adequate, but the rest of the time found nice little places in town to eat. We would recommend Le Manoir highly... worth every cent we paid! We would definitely return.
There is no elevator so be forewarned.

Top Local Tips for Amboise

Better than it looks Go past the obvious tourist shops that surround the castle. Keep walking on the pedestrian street and you will find some nice boutiques.

Make reservations ahead of time Restaurant reservations are necessary for places like Pavilion de Lys and L'Epicerie. These are wonderful restaurants with great food and we saw a lot of people turned away because they didn't have reservatins.

Looking for somewhere lively in the evening? Try O Pub (don't be put off by the name) on rue de la concorde. Quite lively and very friendly bar/club which serves drinks till late and makes excellent Mojitos. Also try Le Shaker located on the island (ile D'or). It's brightly lit and close to the main bridge - you can't miss it.
