Top Local Tips for Amboise
Amboise center of town Amboise is a small town of charm ideally located at the heart of the Loire Valley. Chenonceau, Chambord, Blois, Azay-Le-Rideau, Chaumont, Villandry, Cheverny, are never well far.
Chateaux Allow lots of time to make sure you see everything in this beautiful part of the country. Having said that I think probably after you see a couple of Chateaux they all look alike. Amboise was a great central point and there was actually quite a lot to see in this lovely old town. Make sure you check out the houses that are built into the limestone cliffs - the caves where they grow mushrooms (champignons) and keep the wine cool - we weren't aware these existed and didn't have the time to check it out ourselves.
