Top Local Tips for Amboise
Things to do in Amboise / Loire Valley The chateaux in the Loire Valley are amazing, especially Chenonceaus, Chambord, Cheverny, and Villandry, but Blois, Chaumont sur Loire, and Blois are all also worth seeing. If you can make sure you see the feeding of the hounds at Cheverny at 5pm (but get there before 4:30 if you want a good spot for a photo). In Amboise, try the wine, cheese and foie gras tasting at Caveau des Vignerons d'Amboise and then pick up some great wine and cheese! If you want a great meal try L'Epicerie or Lion d'Or (but steer clear of Le Parvis - terrible service)
shops There are plenty of shops around for souveniers but most are over-priced & could be bought much more cheaply in a larger town. But it's fun to window-shop.
