The Decor Will Knock You Out; The Service is Above and Beyond

If you're looking for a hotel with a decor that will blow your socks off and service that will make you smile, this is the one. Add to that the fact that it's unbelievably inexpensive, and you have a winner.

The lounge area is done in very artistic reds and purples - striking. The rooms are similarly beautiful, clean and very large. You might have to get used to the layout in some rooms, in which the toilet and the shower are on opposite sides of the room.

There's a courtyard that's a wonderful place to enjoy a bottle of wine and the cool breeze at night.

The location couldn't be better. About 3 blocks from the main drag and The Rotunda.

Eric, one of the front desk clerks, was among my favorite memories of Provence. He was fun, funny and greatly accommodating. We made him pose in all our pictures, so we'd remember him.

People at the desk are very obliging.
Rooms and beddind excellent quality.
New and nice decoration in the lobby, bar and breakfast room.

Now, the Hotel name is Hotel Cezanne
and NOT Mercure Paul Cezanne

A real gem

Situated in a quiet street just off the main Cours Mirabeau and in easy walking distance of shops, restaurants and attractions, this boutique hotel offers all comforts, unusual decor and free internet access. Bowls of cherries and walnuts in the lounge and on the reception desk are a lovely touch. Highly recommed.

A Very Modern Hotel

My husband and I just got back from Provence--we spent two nights in Provence at the Paul Cezanne. This was a wonderful hotel---very clean with great beds,lovely new bedding and pillows,a professional,friendly front desk staff,central location near the Rotund,public parking garage,and also the train station.The hotel also offers many extras--complimentaryd soft drinks and water in the room minifridge,large bowls of gorgeous cherries in the lounge downstairs.This hotel is a definite surprise for its three star status and should be upgraded.

Smart and well located

We stayed in the Hotel Cezanne for three nights in a double deluxe room. The location is excellent, literally 100 metres from the station and five minutes from the cours Mirabeau. The room was very pleasant but rather sparsely appointed. There is a free minibar but with a minimal supply of just soft drinks. There was a bath only with just a shower attachment but the bed was very comfortable. Staff were unfailingly helpful.

The breakfast was a welcome surprise with a good choice of continental and cooked options.

Would certainly recommend for a short stay.

Vibrant is the word

We selected this hotel because it was close to the center of the city, the train station and it had great reviews on Tripadvisor. We were not disappointed. That is too neutral a sentence--- we were DELIGHTED. It is only one block from the main train station, so no need to find additional transportation or drag bags for blocks. It is 3 blocks from the Rotund - the central circle of the city. Most important, it is a clean, cheerful hotel with great staff, excellent beds and simply a delightful ambiance.

You may be stunned when you enter as the lobby is bold purple, red, black and white. French provincial chairs upholstered in false zebra hide! The rooms, in constrast, are classic country french. Our room actually had a full-size tub - something totally unexpected in a small european hotel.

The one surprise was, I think, my misunderstanding. They do charge extra for breakfast. 13 euros per person. It is a great breakfast, but still pretty high. On the other hand, Aix is not a big city, so there are not many place open if you want an early breakfast and they start serving at the hotel at 6:30 a.m.

A must in Aix

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Cezanne in April of 2006. The hotel is in a central location, and within walking distance to shopping and dining. This boutique hotel offers a delightful mix of old and new with eclectic, colorful touches to suit traditionalsts and hip modernists alike. The rooms are clean, quiet and updated with and old world feel. The bedding is quite comforatble with top quality linens. We stayed in one of the best rooms on the 5th floor. I can't say enough about Eric, our concierge. He was very helpful in getting us dinner reservations, directions, parking, and sent us on a wonderful day trip through the Provencal countryside. He was extremely accommodating in offering us the best room available. He happily steered us away from tourist traps and offered great advice every step of the way. This is a gem of a hotel, and Eric made our stay very special- here is a man who clearly loves what he does for a living!

One of our best hotels on the whole trip

We booked a room over the busy holiday weekend, and even though the hotel was fully booked, service was great at all times. We arrived late from Cannes, and they found us a reservation at a great restaraunt, and parked my car for me. The bed was the best that we had the entire trip. The hotel was quiet, the bathroom spotlessly clean, even gleaming. Stay here!

Lovely Hotel

My mother and I stayed here for two days in March while visiting family. The hotel was clean, comfortable and charming. The breakfast, while typically pricey, was a full, English breakfast, complete with eggs, bangers and beans. There were plenty of pastries, cheeses, cereals and beverages as well. The staff was professionally friendly. Amazingly, the beverages in the mini-refrigerator in the room ARE free (well, included in the room price) and were a refreshing treat after a day of exploring the town. We did not need concierge services (recommendations, etc.) since we were visiting family, however the staff was efficient and welcoming. Our room was HUGE by European standards, with a sitting area with two stuffed chairs and a table at the foot of the bed. Large TV and good sized refrigerator. Large bathroom with bidet, separate toilet facility. I understand that each of the rooms have a different "feel" so you may want to inquire about the furnishings and size of the room, if that is an issue. Ours was a deluxe triple - though there were only two beds. I assume a roll-away would have been brought in if we needed it. This was the only room available, and was offered at the same price as a double on a travel reservation website, so we took it. You might look for a deal like that, since this was a premium room at a good price.

What a great hotel, they must be trying to get bumped up to 4 stars because the service was impecable, the rooms were so clean and the staff was really friendly. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The beds were also deliciously comfortable.

No Cezannes at Musee Granet until July The renovation work at the Musee Granet is still not finished: this means entry is free but there is not much to see (as of April 2007, the sculpture gallery, unlabelled archaeological remains, and the earlier paintings, but no Cezanne, Ingres, or Granet). Work is scheduled to be completed in June.

Airport shuttle The Marseille airport shuttle departs from the Gare Routiere which is about a 10 min walk at most from the Hotel Cezanne and offers incredible value for a 30 minute ride at EUR7.80 per person one way, which is a fraction of what I was quoted for a taxi ride.
