Top Local Tips for Aix En Provence
Navette airport- Gare TGV - city centre If you arrive to Aix by plane or by TGV (fast train), or on your leaving, there is a "navette" (a bus) every 15mn that goes to the city centre (Gare routiere). It's cheap and fast (15mn from TGV station, and 30mn from airport).
Bistro Romain on Cour Mirabeau Gorgeous meal. If two of you eat from the 32 Euro menu, and eat inside, the dining room is FAB and much better service than eating outside. Kir Royale and half a bottle of wine per person incuded with coffee and three courses. Such good value and a gorgeous location.

When we arrived, we were told that no room was available. The receptionist located our emails confirming the booking, but provided no explanation or apology for the fact that no rooms were available.
Instead, we were accused of having called to cancel the booking the previous weekend, which was complete nonsense. We were forced to contact the local Tourist Office to make alternative arrangements elsewhere.
So, the Hotel Cardinal: they take your booking, take a deposit and when you arrive, tell you that you called to cancel. To repeat: no apology or explanation was provided.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I hope no one else has to go through what we went through.
