| An unpretentious 2-star gem with 3-star service. |

If your idea of holiday heaven is to wander aimlessly up and down the Promenade des Anglais and gaze across a pebbled beach at the sea, or if you are daunted by a flight of steps, this charming little 2-star hotel with self-catering studios perched at the foot of Mount Boron overlooking Nice is not for you. If, however, Nice means the picturesque port and yacht marina, dinghy sailing at the nearby Club Nautique, or buying cheap local wine, freshly caught seafood, delicious Provencal fruit and vegetables, freshly baked crusty bread and patisserie in the famed Nice markets and artisan bakeries surrounding the city's stunning Old Quarter to rustle up your own feasts and dine on a flower-bedecked patio, Claire Hotel is your shangri la. This unpretentious gem near the port is immaculately run by the nicest hotelier couple it has ever been my pleasure to come across in my forty years of professional travel writing. Deservedly popular with French and Italian vacationers, Clair Hotel offers 3-star service at 2-star prices. We shall return!

Fabulous location , right on the beach and in easy strolling distance of all town centre facilities. Comfortable rooms, good food and service and reasonable prices. Secure car parking ?? Restaurant menu good but limited, maybe its better in high season. |
