Top Local Tips for Saariselka Inari
Things to do in Lapland I would suggest you definitely plan full snowmobile safari: best would be 2 hours separate safari for a start and then some combination – huskies – snowmobile or reindeers – snowmobile. This is truly enjoyable and exciting! If you plan on visiting Saariselka during holidays (Christmas, New Year), come either with big party or with family – in any case, ensure you can create holiday atmosphere by yourselves, as there is really not much to do in the evenings! If you have spine problems, recent bone breakages, or you are pregnant, husky safari, reindeer safari and snowmobile as well are definitely not meant for you! I am not sure any organizing agency has any rules or information on that. Avoid booking safaris through intermediary agencies if you want to save at least some money. In Saariselka (and Lapland in general), there are two principal booking agencies: Lapland Safaris (major) and Arctic Safaris. Both have similar prices and websites; you can pre-book your activities and you do not need to make advance payments (as opposed to some sites that require you to make full prepayment). However, check direct service providers: for instance, husky safaris were provided by Husky Co, which, as we discovered, had slightly lower prices for all types of safaris.
Buy unusual hats It is so dark in Lapland at Christmas! We all wore crazy ski hats and it really helped being able to spot each other, especially the kids!
