Top Local Tips for Rovaniemi
Father Christmas apparently lives behind a petrol station Call me Scrooge but I would think very carefully about going here again. In my opinion, the whole experience is like a tourist conveyorbelt. Charter planes fly over the town all day and the whole experience felt less than authentic with not a decent restaurant in sight. The real downer for me was that Santa's 'official' home is the biggest tourist trap of them all - a tacky gathering of huts with a service station feel, just off a main road and filled with tat guaranteed to rake in the tourist pounds, euros and dollars alike. That said Rovaniemi seemed to be a good jumping off point for snow pursuits like snowmobiling etc.
Rovaniemi Rovaniemi is a great place close to Santa Park, and Village and Ski resort and it has a great city with lots of Restaurants to choose from. I would definately go back there again.
