swim at the kalev spa If you want to see technology in action and have a great swim then visit the Kalev Spa which is just 2 streets away from the Baltic Hotel Vanu Wiru. You get 2.5 hours free here if you buy a Tallinn card and being a keen swimmer I thought I would give it a go before flying back to the UK. Reception gives you a blue wristband which right from the start grants you access through the barrier - reassuring for kids etc. This wristband takes you through all the doors and into the main cubicle area where there are numerous showers and where all the lockers are wristband operated - no need for coins! The pool itself is huge 50 metres in length and segmented into lanes which are in 3 different depths. A large plasma screen has adverts in Estonian showing the spa facilities. Next to the main pool are some smaller pools with flumes for bigger children and small slides and activities for younger toddlers and babies. It really was a delightful experience.

Careful of the taxis Tallinn itself is great - but watch out for the taxi drivers! There are plenty of warnings that they will rip you off, and it's all true. The 'advertised' price for a taxi from the airport into town is about 100 EEK (about £5 GBP). This looked about right on the trip into town, until we pulled up and the meter jumped from 98 EEK to 196! We haggled down to 150 EEK. On the way back, the taxi driver quoted about 170 EEK and it turned out to be about right. End of the day, best if bank on paying about 150 EEK.
