It's ok, but expensive for what you get

We chose this hotel after reading the website but the reality was a bit different then we expected. The 'hotel' is actually a hostel which is perfectly all right but then don't advertise it as a hotel with along coming prices: 700 Danish Krone per night is quite expensive when you take a good look at the package. The hotel looks like faded glory from old times....
Our room was definitely not as spacious and bright like the room displayed on the website. The paintings were probably not there to light up the room but to hide the simple cardboard walls, which could use some hooks for clothing. The paintings were quite dreadful although it needs to be said that the painted curtain was way better then the actual one hanging in front of the window.
On the bright side, there were many lamps in the room. We still thank god to this day that we weren't electrocuted because of bad fusing! Tip of the day: an open wiring in a bathroom (think wet wet wet) is not a very good idea.
The kimono and the covering sheets were stained and looked like they'd been used for a considerable amount of time without ever experiencing a good wash. And god knows where them slippers have been! Yes, they have been on our sockwearing feet but we don't want to know about previous 'owners'. The state of the dirty tea-towel which was covering her homemade buns at breakfast comes in the same line: this is not how freshly baked bread should be treated at all! The buns were good though, as was the whole breakfast.
The bathroom and toilets were acceptable: quite clean and good. The mattresses were ok for one or two nights but after four nights on them, you dream of real ones. Another tip: PLEASE get some filling for those pillows.
Don't mistake the owners brusqueness with plain bluntness. This is probably the old teacher still at work. She is actually very nice and more then willing to help you out. A big bonus for the very friendly cleaning lady: sweet and humorous.
To summarise, this is not a place for the neurotic among us, but if you can let go of your hygienic morals this place is ok for a night or two. Also: the city centre is near and the surrounding neighbourhood is quite pleasant. Although the above may indicate differently (as we like to be blunt and cynical), we did have a good time here. Mind you: we do think the price is high for what you get.

The biggest shock was the bill. 800 Danish Kroner (equivalent to £100). The hostess insisted that I pay the rate for a double room. £100!!!!!! A complete rip-off, criminal. Avoid this place.
